I underestimated how fun these were to build. WPL with some upgrades-
    • Two speed gear box with metal gear upgrade
    • Metal axles
    • Metal links
    • Metal driveshafts
    • Adjustable coilovers
    • Slightly larger and way softer tires
    • RES-V3 controller and ESC
    • external 30 amp ESC for 3S
I have it wire to take 3S batteries and made an adapter for my 2S ones. So far I’ve just been running the 2S. I had a 2200mAh 3S, but it’s really bulky heavy. I could level it out with the coilovers, but don’t have a good way to keep it secured since it takes up the whole bed. The 2S are plenty torquey with the two speed gear box.

Yeah that’s the first I’ve built! Surprised at how fun it was. Might do another, but really want to make some indoor stuff to crawl this winter lol

Be warned, it's addicting, but mostly in a good way. You'll have 7 more before you know it.

I have no doubt. Wife would probably be stoked to see another RC build over another truck build though haha

RC guys bitch about how expensive of a hobby they have. Truck guys get into RC because it's a cheap alternative

Playing around with the Jeep. Made a mount for the Viair single.

Came with 5100’s, which allow for an extra 1.5” travel which is nice. I’m keeping the stock geometry for now, so I threw in a 2” RE spacer lift. Kept the bump the same, but the 35’s should clear easy with the new high clearance fenders

Ditched the front and rear bumpers. Also ditched the front Rubicon sway bar. The electronic disconnect was a cool feature, but I want the clearance up front and don’t need the front sway. Will do a frame chop and make my own stubby front winch bumper. May just leave the rear bare or make a simple plate piece. Made some longer heim sway bar end links for the rear.

first impressions of having a Jeep- I hate how much I love this thing. It’s so freaking easy and economical to work with. I’m amazed at how much more suited it is for off-roading and modification right out of the box. The Rubicon tcase is a huge perk. I never had a crawl box, so this is the lowest low I’ve had, and it’s so much better having that control and torque. I’m stoked.

Do you need spring retainers with the 5100s?

No need. I have the 1.5-3” lift version and the coils weren’t loose even before the spacer. Collapsed shock length on paper was supposed to be 0.75” longer, but when I cycled everything, the bump maxed out before the shock, so maybe OEM overprotects. Either way I’m getting every bit I can out of the 9.5” stroke.

Didn’t really know what I wanted to do with the front bumper until I just started cutting more off lol about as slim as I can get it. Finally on the ground. Need to wire up the air compressor, put synthetic on the winch and do an oil change.

Ball joints, bump stops and Barnes aluminum steering upgrade. Nice to be able to do a home alignment and go. Still stoked with the jeep. Never thought I would be a fan lol
