Starting the SAS/buggy build. Picked up the super duty axles this morning. Leaning towards four link, full hydro and 43’s. Probably stretching out to 136”

Congrats on the new addition! Im impressed at how much you get done having young kids (I have a 3 and 4 year old and get nothing done). I’ve done some jd fab stuff, and linked some stuff…looking forward to how the 4 link works out and will be following this thread.

Thanks man! It ain’t easy. I own a business and work around 10-12 hours a day. I spend time with family until kids go to bed at 7:30 and usually hang out in the garage or with my wife until about 10:00. Two kids is insanely more complicated than one and it’s only just begun. I don’t know how much truck stuff I’ll be able to do going forward haha

Also some light wheeling at the homestead on a freshly cut trail. Little extra body damage before hanging up my hat for a bit. Last IFS run before SAS.

I originally wanted TSLs but found a really good deal on these 42” treps on dirty life’s. Little bit bigger than my old 37’s haha

Found a few hours to work on trimming down my axles. Barely feels like I did anything. Not a process I want to repeat, especially when it’s 30 degrees outside.

I’ve only got the 2” of casting on the driver side and the shitty flanges at the end of the tube left to do. I’ve been using the truss to mock stuff up because I can’t bring myself to cut any more haha

Dont use a truss on it. I did and I regret it. You are gonna lose 2" of up travel. I can make it up with a diff pan on the ls but you can't on the 3.4 Fuck I forgot you have a 4.0.. Prob the damn same pan height knowing toyota.

I’ve got a low profile Artec truss and am doing full hydro. Four link so my uppers would fall where most folks three link upper is so I’m not losing anything. Maybe gaining a bit without a panhard

If the pan isn't hitting then its all good. Mine goes up to the pan but truck is super low with frame notched.

Don't even fuck with an LS. That 4.0 SC'd is the only way to go. I would never have done an LS if I had a 4.0. Sc it, build a motor with an 8.5/9-1 forged piston, meth kit and you can ride that 87 octane out if you want for way less than half the cost.

Yeah I’ve got the uppers going right in between the frame and oil pan. Should tuck up in there nicely, but it’s tight. Curious to see how much side to side movement at full articulation. Uppers will be clocked in about six degrees. Lowers will be fully triangulated so that should help I hope. Will know soonish.

Its a lot. Like 2-3". This is mine at pretty dropped down. You can see where the pan hugs the sump and almost touches when it goes to full up.

Not sure I want to go down in the woods today. Seen too many scary movies. I know how this ends…

Axles cleaned up, truss tacked on. The 1st gen trans crossmember took a little trimming. The bushing mounts are too close to the cab, so I’ll be using a diy crossmember mount from Barnes or similar to mount it to the frame.
