Daystar 2.5" spacers install question??

    Those Go on top of the coils. You take apart the strut, swap out the bolts to the longer ones, put it back together and put the spacer on top then bolt it in.

    so that means spring compressor. right?

    Well I picked em up for free. I've got a front end OME setup, but I'm waiting to put it in until I get something for the rear, as 3" front + nothing in the rear =mega bro lean. What was your problem with the daystar spacers?

    Don't do much off roading, so it wont be a problem. Just need something until I get enough cash for the dakars. But my question is even though its just the top spacers (doesnt preload the spring), does the coilover still need to be taken apart? Apparently the answer is yes.

    You're not stacking them with the OME right? Cause that would be BAD....why install twice, I'd just wait and do it all at once or bro lean it for awhile!

    Hell no haha. Im planning on just doing the spacers for now until I get dakars, then swap everything out and throw in OME front and rear (take off the daystar spacers obviously). I think the OME with 883's in the front would just be too much bro lean, thats why I'm waiting to put them in until I get the rear as well.

    Yes compressor is needed to answer your question.

    No it will not preload and cause harm. BUT even the 2.5" with stock rear will give you about 3/4" brolean.

    You don't need a spring compressor . I have the same thing and was really easy to put on. You just add some extended bolts and add the spacer and them put it back on. And all these people saying that your going to break something I wouldn't worry about it . I bet none of them have ever had a spacer and broke something . I personally have one and have taken my truck offroading to some black diamond trails and many other tough trails for 2 yrs and have never had a problem . I wheel my truck all the time , so you should be fine. But recently ordered a full lift kit but still waiting for it.

    Majority answer is that I will need a spring compressor, but I dont see why I would need one, UNLESS the spacer goes below the top plate? But that would mean preloading the coils, and this spacer does not. So I don't see where a spring compressor would be needed.

    The spacer sits on top with out disassembling it. If it went in between then why would it come with extended bolts ?? I have one . I'm right . Lol

    Dont NEED spring compressor.

    Im running this lift. Its a bitch to install, have to seperate the uca and lca as far as possible to make fit. Disconnect tierod end link, balljoint, take the shock out, put the cap on w/ thread extenders and put back in. Compressing springs might make it easier to put back in tho but not necessary.

    Eeek, this I'm not stoked about. I could see where a spring compressor would help, but man that doesn't sound fun. How did you separate the lca from the uca?

    Watch the ball joint when you put it back togeather, make sure theres no play. Impact helps to keep it from spinning. Get alignment right after too.

    Its tight to work around the hub, sway bar ect. Had 2 guys seperating them while I forced the strut back in. It took time but eventually it went in. Worst case, take the spacer off and put it back to stock.

    Ok folks! OP yes you need to disassemble the strut to get the studs in. Yes you need to undo some front end components to get it in. Yes you will NOT break things in slow speed off situations. There's thousands of these spacers on trucks out there and yes there has been some failures. OP keep it slow and you'll be fine. Personally I'd wait and do all the OME at once.
