Backup camera, wheel locks, locking gas cap, tailgate anti-theft device (hose clamp).
Results are very nice. A great inexpensive way to personalize the Taco.

So I have a DSM colored 2005 double cab. Right now the only silver/chrome on the truck are the wheels, emblems, and front grille. If I black the emblems will I have to much black on the truck? I mean will the wheels and body color be enough to offset all the black. Look in my gallery if you want to see the truck.

i think you painted too fast between coats.......i would have waited closer to 10 minutes. i am extremely anal so after the adhesion promoter, i waited 24 hours before painting. good luck on your 2nd try.

Kind of thought that same thing. I'm anal but really impatient. Doesn't offer a good combination I know. I went ahead and put it on the way it is. I may retry or leave it as it is. Thanks for your opinion.

I just debadged my SPB Tacoma. My fingers started getting tuckered out from rubbing and pushing the remaining double-sided tape off... so I grabbed my trusty ol' claybar and viola!

    Claybars FTW!

Well I de-badged my Taco this weekend and am trying to determine whether I want to paint the badges and reapply or buy the sticker set that Sockmonkey makes. Also how did you guys get the left over tape off of the badges themselves? I tried picking it off manually, but just can't seem to get it all off. I was thinking about soaking them in warm water with some Dawn.

I painted one of the Tacoma badges last night. Seems to have turned out ok. I also applied the Krylon Fusion Clear. Kinda thinking I should not of done that since it seems to have taken some of the gloss away. It is more of a satin black than a gloss black now.

I did the same thing and it turned out gray. Must have used too much. Decided not to use it second time around and it has held up fairly well so far.

Will Claybar take off the remaining adhesive off? I have Goo-Goned what I could and there is only a faint hint left (can't notice it unless close) that I want to get off.

There are some minor scratches from rubbing and do not want to make it worse. Scratches are very minor and will probably buff out but just do not want to chance worse ones coming up. I used a micro fiber towel but maybe it had some specks of dust or I just rubbed to hard I am guessing.

I kinda like the look of it without the badges now so i would like it to stay that way. I guess if i can't remove the remaining adhesive I could color match the badges and place them back on to cover up what was done.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Sorry you are having a hard time. I used a heat gun to remove some of the left over adhesive. WARNING: Be gentle with the heat gun, don't stick it right up next to the truck. I put it on the lowest setting and then moved it back and forth about 6" - 8" from the truck for a few seconds at a time. Just enough to heat the adhesive and make it pliable and easier to remove. I then used a bit of acetone to wipe the residue off followed by a polishing compound and wax. It did take some serious rubbing to get it all off. Looks perfect. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. What is left is very slight, you can barely feel it with your hands as you move over the area (haha funny) anyway, the larger portions came off like it did for most of ya just using fingernails and some elbow grease.

I just want to smooth it up a bit, I will try buffing and waxing and maybe some Claybar first. It looks great and will probably just leave the badges off since it looks cool all black.

I will try to post a pic up close so you can check it out.

    Thanks all!

I'm thinking about doing this myself but I'm not sure how a glossy black would look and where I should put it (or leave it where I got it off) on silver with black flares. Either way it looks like a pretty simple and cheap mod even I could prob do.
