What about using some kind of adhesive glue to rebadge?
like what toyota uses to put the badges on at the factory.

On the second gens it's more of a sticky foam used to adhere them to the paint. Similar to the double sided tape. My only concern with some sort of glue would be taking the paint off with it if you wanted to remove them to repaint them.

I've tried 3m plastic and trim adhesive(pictured below) from autozone on a toy car and it pulled the paint off without a problem, granted that's cheap chinese toy but I wouldn't want to experiment with it on my truck.

Quick question, My thumbs are raw from taking the glue off the truck, how do I get the remaining off of the badges?

I used a dremel with a wire wheel, but the wire was toast by the time I finished.

If you're careful I would think a bench grinder would work or maybe the stone wheel on the dremel. It will just make a mess and fling the stuff all over.

Too late, I found a wire bit for our drill so I grabbed that. How the hell did everyone cut out the leters? I am just cutting while its still on the roll and its kind of a pain.

Edit: Also, I got some bubbles and what not, would it work if I applied another coat of adhesion promoter and a couple coats of paint?

I did it for a little while then took a break and procastinated, then I decided I like it debadged.

Many people cut strips and put them on. FightingSquirrel painted the sides of the double sided tape with black permanent marker so it wouldn't show as much and it looked great.

haha. Nice. You may find that you like the clean look of no badges, not to say black badges don't look really good as well. It grew on me. I love the look of a debadged tailgate. Also less of an obstacle for washing and waxing.

I debadged today too, just for fun.

I first wiped down the area around the badge with a soft cloth so I didnt drag any small dirt particles and create little tiny annoying scratches.

I used a clearcoat safe bug and tar remover and saturated the badge.

Then took a soft, cheap work ID card (basically a medium thick piece of cardstock which was laminated), caught an edge under the badged, sawed and GENTLY lifted the card through the badge. Took me about 10 seconds to get 'em off.

Afterwards, just scrapped most of the residue off with my finger and threw a wash down on the truck. I do think however that I need to get some GooGone in order to finish the job, I've already got dusty tacoma logos on the side.... Is that stuff safe for the paint? Didn't have time to go pick some up today....

I would like the debadged look but I waited 3 years and now have an outline around the badges. I scrubed with goo gone and it wont go away, so I am putting them back on

It may fade with time and washes/waxes though. I had a little outline that can still be barely seen when at just the right angle when I have dew on my truck.
