I just got a silver 2010 TRD Sport DCLB and am planning on putting on some TRD FJ SE anthracite wheels. I was thinking of painting the badges the same color as the wheels. Thoughts?

Here is my completed project done today thanks to these directions. Very easy to follow just need to take your time and dont rush. Taping around the emblems is 100% recommended. Thanks again.

just a note for you all... windex has ammonia in it. witch its really bad for your paint... i know you prob will be fine but i would rather be safe than sorry with the paint on my truck. I use pro glass cleaner that i got from a glass shop it doesnt have ammonia in is and is perfectly safe for paint. just make sure you are not using a product that has ammonia in it
    cheers

also avoid ammonia on your tinted windows. thats what turns it purple. the aftermarket tint not the factory tint.

I am having trouble getting the glue off the badge itself. I am afraid to rub the Goo Gone on it too hard and crack the badge. Got any advice??

you dont have to get all of it off, just the major stuff. but what i did was heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun to get it sticky and try to pic it off. i got most of mine off but not all of it and it turned out great. i tried the goof off stuff and it didnt work that great on the backs of the emblems.

I left the majority of it on my badges as well. Just picked off the bulky stuff. I figured it would help keep the new tape stuck to the badges.

Don't use that glu...I did then decided to remove them again. It chips the paint! even with goo gone its a way to hard core adhesion.

    Lots.
The badges were chrome and I painted them black.

They are not held on by glue. They are a 3m tape. I describe how to get it off on the first page. Depending on what year your truck is there might be some paint fade around the badge. Goo gone will get the adhesive off and then wax that area to get it nice and clean.

any one do this on a gold color tacoma? i have a 2001 gold tacoma and want to color the badges black i guess. i have bloack fender flares and tinted windows and the only chrome i have are around the grill and the rear bumper so i think they should off set each other enough. what yall think?
Also I have read that the 1st gen tailgate and sr5 emblems can't be reused...is this all 1st gens or for certain year trucks?

Yeah my mirrors were chrome so it would have looked funny. I just lightly etched the mirrors with some sand paper before I sprayed them
