Man, if it has been in AZ, I'd go after it. Have them guarantee and repair the paint, change all fluids (all in writing), tack on a additional warranty on their dime and take it from them off the lot. If it's been in AZ, rust ain't an issue, the only issues is paint fading and possible interior warp/cracking. If you can save say 10-12 grand, do it.

I did run a Carfax (my friend did actually) and it came back clean.

I'm going back to test drive it right now. Its blue. TRD Off Rd Pkg. Tow pkg. JBL audio. Traction Control. A bunch of other things...

I think they said $10k just to get me down there because when I called the guy just said $25k (only 5k off). Forget it as I have gotten $24k for a 2009 Off Rd Pkg!!!!!! I'm going down there because I am also stopping back over at the Nissan dealer as well. We'll see what happens with this. Not much I guess.

I was thinking "Katrina" too. Just don't think I could get that possibility out of my mind if I bought it.

I would leave it be. A carfax would come up clean if insurance was not used in the "fix". I never liked vehicles that have not been used. They just rot. Tires have flat spots. Parts not moving and therefore are not lubricated.

They are still way down in sales so don't let any salesman tell you otherwise.

May 2009 did increase over April 2009 but even so even with the increase Toyota Division light trucks sales were still down 36.9% from May 2008

For 25k I wouldn't go for it...I got my 08 (same specs as yours just black) new with 12 miles on it for 25k with no flaws what so ever. I would try to work them down closer to 20k

25k, no way in hell. Also, did 07's actually have traction control on the TRD Off-Road or any truck for that matter? My 08 doesn't, I thought all the VSC stuff was 09+.

When you have a great deal sitting in front of you...jump on it. So many people wait to think about it and are dissapointed when they miss the boat.

Ive worked at car dealerships and somtimes you would have a new vehicle that just never sold. It would accumulate a few miles from test drives, and sit there over time until the dealer had to give it away. So a new-old stock can be a legit deal. Is it good for a truck to sit for 2 years and only be driven 240miles? Not really. But if they honor the warranty form the purchase date and the price is too good to pass, I would consider it for sure. Ive seen this happen before. Its not nessessarily a scam.

not often but a prime example is the FJ Cruiser. I have seen quite a few used 2008 FJs on the lots of various dealers, not just Toyota. I considered the FJ but figured that it is more of a novelty truck than anything else. If you really do hardcore off roading then ok, might be worth it but in my eyes, and many others, its not a practical everyday truck for a family. Others will disagree. But when I talked to a few sales guys they said a ton of people buy the FJ and drive it for less than a year and find out its not what they wanted and trade it in. How stupid is that? He said the FJ has been discontinued for lack of sales and probably won't get any support after a few years after its axe'ed. Another reason to stay away. Said the resale value will be killed but owners think the opposite because it will be rare/collectible.

Aw well, if it was meant to be it would not have been sold. The funny thing was all this time this one sales guy said it was up for grabs. They gave me all kinds of prices on it. And the thing was never listed on their site. It is interesting because they also have a 2007 Rav-4 fully loaded that is "new" with 85 miles on it. The sales guy said they just sold a 2007 Land Cruiser at a big discount also. Just odd that they had 3 07s that are "new".

I have gotten good offers on a 08 and 09s. Just trying to weigh all my options before I spring for something. It seems now is the time to buy as every dealer I've negotiated with are desperate (well they act it at least) and after a lot of back and forth I am getting some really good prices. Especially on Toyota, Chevy, and Ford. Nissan for whatever reason doesn't play. They say they don't have to because demand is exceeding supply for the 09 Frontier. So they don't negotiate. well forget you then. Even though I love the utilitrack feature with those cleats, etc... and spray in bed liner.

My truck was a leftover when bought "new".
It was never titled, had 60 miles on the odo & there was no way I could not pass up the price. It was last non-current model year on the lot.
Also because it wasn't the "newest" inventory, it qualified for both the sale price & Toyota's 2.9 interest rate, not just one or the other.
Now the low miles add $$ to the book value not the other way around.
Sorry to hear the deal fell through....

This happens all the time. The truck is most likely leftover inventory seeing that sales have plummeted since 2007. Dealers will always give a huge discount on these vehicles because they have already taken a bath on the floorplan cost of the vehicle (this is the price the dealer pays the bank to have the truck sitting on the lot). If their inventory has a birthday then they will defiantly have a "loser" when they sell it (the dealer will loose money on the sale). The dealer will do anything to move the sheet metal and get fresh inventory to replace it.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing by seeing how much of a discount they will give it to you for, as well as checking the relative price of newer like Tacomas. Just keep twisting their arm and they will continue to give you a better deal.

ps...I am the bank ;) (I do this stuff for a living)

Say what? You have to compare same month year over year sales....
June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. posted sales declines of more than 40 percent in May from a year earlier, when they were aided by rising fuel prices, as Asian automakers lost U.S. market share for the first time in 2009.

If the truck is a 2007, I wouldn't worry about Katrina. That hurricane was in August of 2005, however that doesn't mean the truck wasn't in some other kind of flood or natural disaster. I would have that truck checked out by a trusty mechanic before buying it.

Tell them you want the Toyota Platium 7/100 warranty thrown in and then buy the thing. Change the oil, give it a good scrubbin' and enjoy it!
