I ordered a Reg Cab 4x4 about a month ago and it is a 6-8 week wait on this particular configuration.
I call the dealership today for a update and got into a interesting conversation about the mighty little 4x4.

He said 2014 is the last year for the regular cab Tacoma, no more will be built in 2015.

I've always wanted the little I4 manual tranny 4x4 regular cab and am extremely happy knowing I got one before the cut-off.
I am actually down grading from a very nice Tundra limited 4x4 but something in my bones told me to jump to the little Taco and I'm glad I didn't just keep dreaming about one.

I'm not certain but this should be the end of a era of about a 35 year production run in this configuration.

Moral of the story if you have ever wanted the tiny Taco you better hurry before it's to late.

Nope. They're one trick ponys. Used mainly for work and when you buy one they last 20 years

Regular cabs. I owned two and just traded in the 2010 for a double cab . My other one is a 4x4 5spd that I will keep forever.

Who wants to drive a single cab that only gets 18 mpg hwy?

4x4 Sticker says 21 hwy gets between 23 and 24 hwy.

Plus the 5 lug reg cab is a common fleet vehicle. Doubt those are discontinued. 4x4 reg cab still sexiest truck.

With a 2.7 yeah. I get 23 with my 4x4 access cab @ 75 mph on the freeway.

My previous comment was referring to a 4.0.

Then you might as well get a real truck, something that weighs 6,000-7,000 lbs and has 350+ HP.

Agreed...Tacoma's get dismal MPG based on their weight and power production at least in comparison to some of the newer full size trucks

I don't like full size trucks. I like Tacomas! I had a '90 single cab chevy slammed on 17's when 17's were big. Had roughly 400 hp and looked great. Also had an '03 single cab chevy with a v6. Also have a F250 7.3l diesel.

The new Tacoma is my favorite out of all of them so far.

    Explain?

    230hp v6 18ish mpg 4200lbs 0-60 probably 7.0 sec

    350 hp v8 18ish mpg 5500lbs 0-60 probably 7.0 sec

    More power more weight

Only thing I didn't like about my prerunner regular cab 2.7 manual was the gas milage. 250lbs in the bed and it got 20mpg mostly freeway with only bfg At's
