Nope, the letter says to sit tight and they will send another letter when the remedy is available. It might be different in your case since you could be possibly having a fuel pump malfunction

Take a tech on a ride and duplicate the issue while he’s monitoring/recording your truck in TechStream.

I suppose I’ll hold off a few days and see how the truck progresses. I’ve also had a coil pack fail causing a misfire like two months ago so it’s been frustrating overall.

if he has comprehensive insurance, and it was mice, rodent, or even vandalism, he would pay his deductible, and the insurance provider would pay for the repairs. Ski

The ECU actually counts exhaust pulses from each O2 sensor.

And he would pay it all back over the next couple of years in the form of higher insurance premiums. Not advisable unless the repair bill goes into 4 figures.

Guys! This is me! All the symptoms described above. Left me stranded and had to get it towed to local Toyota dealer. Had relative come pick me up after leaving truck in overnight box. Before I left the truck though I started one last time. It started fine but codes didn’t clear. I have fear now they will start and reset code and send me on my way. I just don’t want this to leave me stranded again.

I was driving from my parents to my house an hour and a half away and I got stick in the middle. Sucks bad. Thanks for the recall info because I’m going to put my knee in their backs if they tell me it’s some freak thing and not related to this.

    *UPDATE*

Dealer has issued me a loaner, they are creating a case with toyota on guidence for trucks showing symptoms with this issue and how to proceed despite not having a solution for the recall yet. I was told worse case is that they hold on to my truck until there is a available fix for the recall and they still don't know when that fix will be available.

If there's a problem with the low pressure fuel pump, the remedy is to replace it. They probably don't have enough in stock for a recall, but normal repairs they should have enough for.

My dealer told me bad gas my first trip in. Okay I thought, that’s plausible. Happened again after I switched gas stations. Dealer told me the same statement. Luckily, I got wind of the recall through the forums and my symptoms fit exactly. Dealers can be ill-informed sadly. I did get a recall letter notice recently.

Seriously. He even wrote “not oe grille” on the invoice. I’ve heard some lame excuses before but that one took the cake for me.

Can't replace it with existing parts on shelf... those are potentially bad too as they are from the same batch. Now the quality control takes place instead of before installing a virtually untested item into 1000's of trucks. The company that made and sold the part to toyota were supposed to do that quality check... opps, their bad, or something to do with the assembly process in Mexico or Texas.
Wait until they figure it out.
This happened with the ac blower on 16's and 17's. They replaced it under warranty with the same part and it broke exactly 1 year from installing like the first one... recall was issued with new part number. And happened with crank position sensor on early models.

It pisses me off to no end that these guys are writing stuff like that in but at the same time I know exactly where they age coming from. Everything is such a liability nowadays, he’s just covering his ass.

I’m a diesel and hydraulic tech, I now just fix powerline trucks and I know if I see something out of place I write it down because if “JoeBlow” comes along and says it’s been like that forever and I seen it and didn’t write it down it’s my ass on the line.

I also swap my grill out everyone I have to take my truck back into the dealer. :p

I understand the liability part. I work at a ER, liability+customer service is a pain in the ass. So I try my best to be as reasonable as possible and not loose my cool. I feel like a lot of times people don’t understand someone else’s job and what it’s like on their end so I keep that in mind if I’m ever pissed off about something.

The grille did piss me off though. I almost died when I tried to explain the situation and he stuck to his grille position. That’s when I wanted to choke the guy

I had my 4Runner in about a year ago for a part and asked the dealer to order and install the plastic clips for my broken grill just hanging on crooked haha. Got it back and they verbally confirmed to me they put the clips in as well as put it on the ridiculously high bill to do so. Still looked crooked to me when I got home so I checked their work. Zip ties. They zip tied it and charged me for the plastic clips and the “time” it takes to install them. It had been several years since I had been to a dealership before that and will be hopefully eternity before I ever have to go back again. Derp-tastic, dealers are.
