If you go back threads I searched the wiring prints and I'll tell you there is no such beast on our trucks. Just a switch that is used for the check engine light. It's located near the oil cooler.

    A comprehensive warranty?

That actually sounds pretty good as it gives you lots of options. You'll get a lot of miles of use it with no worries about drive train repair costs...and you're getting coverage for things like power windows, A/C compressor, alternator, injectors blower motor, radiator, transmission and other stuff TOTALLY unrelated to what they did that go bad with age and miles.

As I've said, there's little reason to worry about the engine seizing up someplace leaving you stranded. IF the engine is going go bad from this you'll have plenty of notice to get it in to a shop... it won't just seize up now if it hasn't already.

If after 160K km's and you're not comfortable with it as warranty runs out...then would be the time to make the decision to dump it. You'll have gotten lots of use out of it at least, even if you did sell earlier than you wanted.

Dealerships play hard ball and know what they can get away with, in this case no evidence of damage.

I would as them to honor the Warranty no matter what modifications you decide to do. They may limit mods, if so I would make a list and have them include as acceptable mods that will not cancel or void the warranty.

Trade it in at the dealer that did the oil change and ask for 15% over retail on the trade.

The worst thing: these are "certified professionals" working at the dealership! I have never failed so miserably at anything, and I am certainly not a professional ASE certified Toyota mechanic. Someone should pay ME $125 per hour for being a professional failure. But I am really glad to hear the manager offered you something substantial... now go drive the hell out of that thing.

Well its 27.50 for the tech and the rest for the popcorn and coffee machine, nice looking secretary, the service writer, the paper mats, the 'free car wash,' and the month-end bonus for the owner.

    Ase Certified Professionals.

At least they professionally forgot to put the oil in,, so you can feel good about that part,

If your going to do something bad, might as well do it good.

"Hi, my name is Chet, I have never turned a wrench in my life, but I just passed all of my ASE classes and are now a certified professional".

You know that's not too outrageous. Fresh out of high school a friend of mine who had never taken shop in school or worked as a mechanic, but played around with his own stuff in the same foolish sometimes boneheaded way people (myself included) did things at that time took the ASE tests. He passed them all except the electrical portion. This was back in like 91-92 and he immediately got hired as a tech at a local GM dealer.

    neglect, mostly.
that is gay. though one kilometer shouldn't be that bad.

speaking of, did anyone see 30 rock last night? this thread made me think of it.

(scene - jack and avery are in canada and avery starts having contractions but doesn't want their child to be born in canada)
Avery- "how far's the border? maybe we could run"
Jack - "I don't know. When i asked the lady at the desk she told me in kilometers!"

hahahaha!!. . . but seriously that sucks about your truck.

I mean this in the nicest way, dude, but since you said this twice... it's "Don't take no for an answer."

Taking NO for an answer would be going to the dealership, asking for a new engine, having them say no, and then giving up and leaving. ;)

But he said 'Take no for A answer'...which means something completely different. If you were a toddler you would have understood. :p

I second what he says. A free oil change? How about ripping the tech a new ass hole! Shit like this is why I do my own oil change. They can keep their so called free oil change coupons that came in the mail when I bought my 2011 Highlander.
