I hear many of you praising the OVTune option for your transmissions.

For those of you who have opted for this, I'm just curious what your Dealership says and/or how they respond after they find out you've performed this change? I can envision many Dealers refusing warranty work. Has this been your experience?

Nope. Not detectable unless the owner runs their mouth.

Never had an issue. Some dealers are even promoting it to fix Toyota’s crap factory tune

Out of curiosity, does your Dealership KNOW that you've made the change?

If the service “technician” is smarter than a sack of potatoes and knows what to look for, they can find out something was done.

In general, majority of “techs” from wyotech, uti, and the like can barely put on pants without a book.

Unless you advertise it with decals or flags or get diarrhea of the mouth, 98% chance that they will never know.

Or, as I say, "Can't get out of a phone booth without written directions..." Nowadays, the phone booths don't even have doors (like they used to!), so that's saying something!

Wasn't there 1 specific version of the tune that was able to be detected?

no OV tune or dealership history with my truck yet but, when i had my subaru they could find out based on the history of the flash date on the ECU maybe a flash counter. Different ecu but i would imagine the technology would be similar.

You mean glaring you in the face detectable right?

Just sayin, algorithms can always be detected if they differ from the original code.

I know the Toyota computers have the ability to real time survey the code, question would be, does Donny Dinglefuck even know how to read? We had the ability at Kia and Nissan to do this through the factory computers, never did it myself as it was usually a bullshit paid warranty thing, replace it and go.

Yup. They’ve known for a long time. I get questions about it because there are constantly people complaining about these trucks

If I remember correctly, and there's a good chance I'm not, there was one version of the tune that would change the version number or something of the ecu, this has since been changed back to keep everything stock looking. Outside of that I don't think the dealer has the ability to see the actual code on the ecu. Again, there's a good chance I'm misremembering but I think I'm right, maybe.

It was said that the Taco ECU does not have that data (checksums).

It does report time and mileage from the last DTC reset, but most any OBD app can do that.

That's kind of what got me thinking about this.

I had a co-worker who bought one of the Subaru WRX (?) models and "flashed" it. After he did, his Subaru Dealer told him "he was on his own" as far as his warranty was concerned. Like anything, I'm sure some Dealers would be fine with the change, but I can also see some being hard-nosed.

Yes. If you applied the TSB tune at home, the dealer can see the new ECU ID. I did mine right around the 10k mark. I believe it was just before? They did not even notice that at the 10k or 20k service.

Technically they cant say "you are on your own" when you flash.... the precedent in court is they have to prove that the mod contributed to the part failure if under warranty.

they've never even asked when I go in, it's not like it added
crazy hp & twist and the truck screams out of the service bay.

the only thing they've said is that "the pedal seems touchy" I said
I have the ECT programmed to come on at start-up, he said, "oh, that
    must be it then".
