Debadged my 2017 Mag Gray Tacoma

In case you are looking to do the same. All the posts I’ve read is what I did. Heated with hair dryer, used fishing line to get them off and then elbow grease and goof off and some wax to finish it off. Here are a few pics.

I am loving the clean look. It does take some elbow grease to get the remaining stick tape off

 

What took so long?

 

One one side the sticky was welded on. Tried goo gone, goof off, heat, etc. and just had to keep picking and scrubbing with my fingers and microfiber rags. The other side and the V6 badge was pretty simple. For some reason one side was insane!

Yep. I bought it new at the end of 2016 and it’s a 2017.

 

Looks good, I'm just curious what was bothering you about the badging?

 

now get rid of the vinyl between the doors.

 

I did mine the same week I bought my truck, (Tacoma, V6 and trd logo's) for me was a cleaner look and no chrome. I didn't use any heat gun, no wire just yanked them off and scrubbed of the residue.

 

I just bought an SR5 Offroad decal from ebay so I'm in a different boat lol

 

I have a custom SR5-Sport decal from ebay.... just gotta get my truck looking sporty.

 

It’s preference. As far as the “V6” badge, why? Advertising it’s a V6? Who cares. And “Tacoma”, it looks alright. But I prefer the clean look and I know it’s a Tacoma. I bought it. .

 

Did the same thing last week. Still had some shadow remains but after two washes and some sun they are almost gone.

 

Cool, just wondering what you had to say. I might ditch the V6 badge, makes the tailgate kind of busy

 

There is a product called “Maguires Cleaner Wax” that is an all in one mild abrasive cleaner and wax in one. Works awesome for stuff like this.

 

Cool, now it looks like an SR 4 cylinder with someones take-off wheels. Just kidding! I don't fully debadge anymore but silly stuff like "V-6" isn't necessary.

I did keep the TRD 4 X 4 Sticker on the bed however. I didn’t feel like tackling that and don’t mind the sticker, it blends in pretty well. Most of all, it’s not chrome.
