    Howdy everyone.

Looking for some solid advice on how to remove this dealer badge on my tailgate. I've seen suggestions using WD-40, a heat gun or hair dryer, to dental floss or fishing line.

Currently this is what I have on my tailgate from the dealership:

It's the last bit of chrome on the truck.

Simply put: Don't want to damage the paint or the clear coat, but want that off the tailgate.

    Thanks in advance!

Pic isn’t showing up. But if the dealer decal is like the door badges, then a heat gun and fishing line are the best and easiest method. Heat up with heat gun, run fishing line behind it, peel off, get the glue warm and rub it off with your fingers. Shouldn’t need anything else

Sorry about that. Sometime it works for me. Other times, it doesn't. But yes, it's similar to the door badging from Toyota.

I have it removed by them on every vehicle I've ever purchased... before I sign the papers.

outside of that, hot day and some floss works great.

Hair dryer to heat up the adhesive and some fishing line should do the trick!

You could also pick up some Automotive Goo-Gone from a local auto parts store to get the remaining adhesive off.

I’ve had good results with this method in the past. After I get all the adhesive/remover off I like to throw some wax back on there too

In the past I would ask the dealer to remove their decal or whatever they slapped on the vehicle to get free advertising from me...never happy, now I do it myself once home...first thing!, to promote something you got to pay...you don't send me a monthly cheque I don't promote shit...that goes for dealer license plate frame too.

Hair dryer and dental floss. Then some goo-gone. Wash the area and apply some wax.

Remove them on the lot, upfront right where they parked it for you. Dispose in the sales area trash can, if possible make eye contact when the salesman so he can see it drop.

I hate those damn things. A plate frame, OK, but sticking those hokey dealer emblems is too much. Some dealers have really large ones too; what's up with that?

The best thing about Maui Toyota...Jim Falk doesn't own it! Why do dealers deface/tag their inventory?

Straight up isopropyl alcohol is my first choice, provided you can get the good stuff. Even 91% is half-assed compared to 99.998%. Beware, it will dry your hands like nothing you've ever seen though.

I use it in an industrial setting on automotive paint daily.

That's exactly what I did when I bought my truck.

I told the Dealer I wouldn't sign the papers and drive the truck off the lot until I saw ALL of their dealership "advertising" off the truck.

It's brand recognition. They hope while sitting at a stop light you see the name. When the time comes, you will tend to favor a dealer name you've seen before. The vinyl not so much or a plate, unless they punch holes in a new bumper. Those OEM looking dealer emblems are annoying to remove.

I bought a Toyota because I wanted one, I bought from a dealer because I had no choice for a new one.

lol, same here. I said you can keep it there but I'll need to be compensated for advertising, she said "I'll go get someone to remove it".
