I just debadged the sides and part of the back of my truck.
I used a hair dryer, fishing line, my fingers to get the glue off, some goo gone for the rest, then mothers wax.
My truck is black and I can still see the outline of the emblems after all that.
Any advice how to get it back to the solid black color with no remnants?

you might not be able to. i used an eraser wheel on my truck multiple times and if you look closely you can still some of the outlines on my tailgate. same thing happened with my boyfriends and my sisters truck.

You may want to try a scratch/swirl remover. I know on mine, I debaged after 3 years of them being on. Had the shadow, but using 1Grand it removed it completely.
Just did a blue ride with the same issues, and it worked with a charm.

Thanks a lot guys for all your suggestions.
I kept the badges so I guess I could judt paint them black and put them back on :(

Oh and I left the TOYOTA and TACO on the tailgate, is that too much?

Ah, good ol' phantom emblems. Being an 02 you may be stuck with them until the paint can fade and match. Like suggested above though, just hit it with everything you can think of thats not overly abrasive.

well now I have tried goo gone, mcguiars scratch and swirl remover, and wax...
If anyone has any other suggestions I am more than willing to try :)
I guess I could remove all the paint down to the sheet metal... That would be unique

I dont think I could take a pic, getting the right light would be very difficult.
In the dark it looks great :)
Its just when the light hits it just right...

well then it doesn't sound too noticeable, i wouldn't worry about it unless its really bugging you that much. i think no badges always looks better even if you can see a little outline.

When i de-badge my wifes truck i did it the day we got it so you couldnt see anything , but its also a white truck.. Now when i did my X-Runner i took off the toyota tacoma off a week after i got it and couldnt see it. 3 years later i took off the X-Runner and tried everything i could think of and it was still there so i got me a carbon fiber badge to cover it up
