I have a 2015 double cab off road with stock suspension and need new shocks, in doing so I also want to swap out my front springs to stiffen up the front just a bit to deal with the mushy stock suspension. I don't really want to lift this truck but a little is ok if I don't have to lift the rear and that's why I'm leaning towards the 883 coils in the front. I'm posting this because there isn't much info out on running 883's on a gen 2 and looks like most are running the 884's. I plan on getting 5100's and setting the front at 0.

Does this sound like a good plan?

    yep..
I think keeping your coils and going with 5100s set on the second setting (0.85" lift) would be a good option. When I did this it was night and day over the original setup. Great ride.

I'm running 5100/883 on my 2.7l access cab, and it gave me 1.5" lift and rides much firmer in a good way. If you're just looking for a better ride with minimal lift, I'd go that way. 884 might give you 1.5"+ and leave you wanting to lift the rear too.

Your truck is lighter than mine so it make sense that you would get more lift. I would expect to get an inch on mine which is about where I want to be.

What setting are you guys using on your 5100s? Did you use the bottom notch or go up one? I was planning on going with the bottom notch for the lowest setting.

Yep I did the bottom notch. That should give you that inch.

I got ~1.5" on my Access cab with 883's. I put in a add a leaf in the rear to keep the rake.

Same here. How'd the 883s turn out? I have a 4cyl Prerunner double cab with 140k miles... want to refresh the suspension without going crazy and the 5100/883 combo looks good. Otherwise, I think I'd just get some 4600s, use the stock coils, and call it a day.
