I'll will be using my Gen 3 as daily driver and need some input as to how both models ride on the road. I will be upgrading the tires to BFG KO2. Off riding will be mild mostly sand nothing extreme. I know the Sport would be the best option for my needs but I'm not a fan of the hood scoop. I need to know what are the pro and cons for street use as in ride quality.

You really should test drive both on the street. you will find your answer there. Like Music "Ride quality" is subjective. Some believe a BMW has a good ride. I find any car where one hits their head on the head liner running over a paper cup a bad ride. BMWs explode when hitting even a minor pothole.

I like the Sport ride. I find it has less body roll in sweepers and freeway ramps than my 15 Sport with Bilsteins. These are candy rolls for my MX5

If you will not off road, don't get the off road. But if you are looking at monetary value, you pay the same price for each. The sport has appearance money and the off road has rear locker and braking system money. Which do you prefer?

Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
This is definitely a question that needs to be answered by test driving both. Like TacoBella said, ride quality is subjective.

Get the sport and trade the hood. You already know what you want.

Thanks for the input TW. Here in Hawaii there still aren't any to test drive as of yet. They just off loaded a dozen or so but they all are already sold. Pretty slow goings here. Just trying to do my home work from TW that know their stuff. Looking for the softer ride without losing handling.

I was having the same delima choosing between the limited, sport and off-road all 4x4 models. I ended up with the sport.

Limited---loved everything including the leather seats but hated the color of the seats

Offroad--- I will do sone light off-roading at the hunting camp but no extreme off-roading and liked the creature comforts on the sport

Sport---push button start, wireless phone charging, slightly less ridged suspension for a better ride.
Would I like the crawl control offered in the offroad package, sure. How often would I ever actually use. Maybe never.

I felt the sport was the best of all the worlds, works great for light offroad, tows the boat bet for 80% of the time on the road was best choice for me. All I did was add 265/70/17 cooper destinatin STT pro offroad tires. They rude great, reasonably quiet and very aggressive offroad.

Had the exact same dilemma. Biggest downfall of the sport is the scoop that people either love or hate. When you drive the sport you realize the view out the windshield is all the two tiered scoop. Love the way it looks from the outside but I spend most of my time inside the truck.

My TRD Offroad has all those bells and whistles you list for the Sport below. This is not a Offroad vs Sport feature, it's the Premium Package feature which is available in both models.
Why pay the same price and not get a rear locker and crawl mode? You essentially trade an e locker for a hood scoop -- not worth it.

TRD OFFROAD all the way..... and do you do not have to do jack with your hood.

Toyota really should charge less for the sport, as the only advantage it gives you over the off-road is the scoop, body colored flares and rear bumper. Even though I will probably never have a real use for all of the off road features there certainly is value in them.

BMW has a sport ride. Sport suspension is stiffer for better cornering and handling on pavement. Offroad suspension is softer to absorb impact of driving off the road in areas rougher than pavement.

NO FUNCTION (pooper) SCOOP ON ANY VEHICLE IS OUT (my motto).

I've always found the O/R to ride better but, it is a truck. Sold the BMW recently which was a good ride (according only to me) but, you def could feel shit. OTOH I'm pretty much ok with the current DD (T4R) ride.

I'm with the others, a ride is what you need so you can decide which you like...even if you need to wait. I sure wouldn't order one without a drive.

Gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the current crop of Caddy's. Up until just a few years ago, not so much.
