I dont know much about the "infamous" deck plate. Can someone give me a scoop on it. Is it really worth my time or should i just buy a K&N intake.

Ive heard you get more HP and MPG with a better sound. Does it work?

    Thx

do the deck plate mod and add a good high flow filter to it....you will be set and very happy with the gains!!! better than an aftermarket intake!!!;)

hey man, its a really easy mod, and and its also the best bang for the buck...........it has been dyno'd too, so its not like how some intake manufacturers claim x amount of hp..........this mod is awesome. when you get into the throttle, with the cap unscrewed from the deck plate, it has an awesome sound too!!:D

stay away from a throttle body spacer........pure junk.;) all they do is whistle, and do nothing for a fuel injected motor. they work ok on a carbureted motor, but thats about it.

Shouldn't so long as you take care of your airfilter when you're supposed to.

Did he say how he thought it would mess it up? The mod just allows for more air into the engine, plain and simple, it should not harm the MAF whatsoever.

    This thread should help:

    http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=85

"Once the hole is suitable, mark the screw holes with the sharpy and remove the deckplate. Drill pilot holes for the stainless-steel screws. Before you reinsert the deckplate, place a continuous bead of \"sensor-safe\", black, silicon around the inside of the flange, align the screw holes and fit the deckplate to the airbox. If the silicon is not \"sensor-safe,\" you will need to leave your airbox out of the truck for at least 24 hours or you will get a \"Check Engine\" light from the fumes coming off the sealant messing with the MAF sensor."
