i just installed the deck plate on my 02 v6 taco...it sounds amazing and the best part about it is if your dont get on it, it sounds like it did without the silencers closed off. Thanks for the post and this cheap mod. I spent 11.50 and it is probably the best 11.50 i have ever spent.

Just out of curriosity, have people reported better MPG doing this mod to a 2nd Gen truck? I will go look in the 2nd Gen threads to see what's available to increase my MPG.

My story is: Just bought my 09 PreRunner 2x4 Dual Cab V6 and is my first new truck. It gets a whopping 20 MPG using an easy foot. I'm not looking to remove the resonating chamber but only looking to increase my MPG.

I'm also looking into some nerf bars but that's another thread.

    Appreciate the responces...

    Joe

O.K. did the deck plate about a month ago and the difference is great. I'd like to plug the silencer but mine doesn't look like the pic chris4x4 put up. The only thing that I have hanging of the intake tube after the air box is a small 3/4" or so "J" shaped tube that is closed. After that is a larger box up by the manifold that looks to have at least one vacume tube coming from it. Is the silencer the "J" shaped tube?

I have never really looked into it. I was told one time, that it was a "Water trap", for incase water got into the intake....But I have never looked into it to verify.

i read on another post that you have to get a better quaility air filter if you do this mod, such as a k&n or amsoil, is this true?
