The issue I have is with my outside air switch. Everytime I change from dash to floor to defrost, the outside air recirculation button switches to outside air. It has also done this randomly while driving without changing the vent selector. I want it to stay on recirculation & not allow outside air in unless I push the button. It's almost like it's on a thermostat allowing outside air in to regulate the temperature.

Rear sliding window weather strping came out of track. Dealership said they have never seen another one in for that. Had to replace the whole back window. Lost all my decals .

Nevermind, I found the answer on this forum! Apparently if you press & hold the recirc button for 3 seconds, it will not cycle.

    6) i bought my tacoma with about 45,000 miles and i loved it from the second i got it till now. It's not really a problem but the previous owner drove the truck really rough, and my truck had the whine from the throwout bearing. while i had the tranny out i chamged the clutch and the pressure plate, i was amazed, the clutch had dents in three spots, and thats how i knew that the previous owner drove my baby rough.

First off let me say this is a great forum for all things tacoma and also that this is my first tacoma or any toyota for that matter, I am a Ford Truck Guy, with that said they dont make anything in a midsize truck that can compare to the Tacoma

As far as issues I am thankful that i read things here just after a I bought the truck. The annoying ticking is unreal. I truely called the dealer cuz it sounds like a 4banger (no offense)even my wife who is not a car/truck person at all was like this thing is really loud. I do as well feel that lunge when sitting at a idle. The tranny shifts pretty hard when you let off excellerator but its a truck. All of these are minor issues and I think the truck is great. I find myself just going to the garage to look at it and muster up ideas of things to do, like a kid on Christmas. anyhow I got a little off track but keep up the good work here it is much appreciated

I bought mine used, but it wasn't really that used. My main problem is my tire sensor. The damn thing keeps going off like something it wrong with the tire pressure, I am going to send it back in a couple of days to the dealership to see if they can stop if from going off all the time. For now I'm used to it, but it's acting up more than usual. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon.

check your spare tire pressure. I had the same concern and did not know they had a tire sensor in the spare.

It's a good idea to have a sensor in the spare. Otherwise, when you need it and find out it's flat too, it's a little too late.

My only issue with the truck was fixed with the transmission TSB. The taco lean is a little bothering as well, but I'll get over it.

    6) I hear and feel a slight 'clunk' when starting out in first gear, it only happens after shifting from reverse into first gear. Not sure if it is the tranny, the carrier bearing, or the diff. I just hear the noise once in a while after shifting from reverse into first and then accelerating. I also don't like the way the tranny (4spd auto) feels like it's slipping sometimes, mostly in 4th gear at around 45-50mph (yes I accelerate slowly). It eventually locks into gear after 50 but the transition from 3rd to 4th gears is not a positive engagement. Otherwise I love my Taco, it is perfect for my needs.

    3) 4WD without limited slip diff., No tow pkg
    4) Double Cab
    5) Stock 3-leaf suspension

6a) Rear passenger door improperly painted
    6b) Windshield leaked (twice)
6c) Driver's side roof moulding flew off vehicle (also a prob w/ Corollas says one dealer)
6d) Driver's side "Tacoma" emblem installed crooked
6e) Truck lunges slightly when idle speed increases when A/C kicks on. I've learned to stay back in bumper to bumper traffic and at drive-thru's, and make sure my foot's heavy on that brake.
6f) Heater fan creates excessive air noise. Need to crank the radio if fan is on #3 or #4.
6g) No side-window defoggers. Need to manually aim the outermost dash vent louvers up and out or windows fog. Even my '82 Trans Am had side window defogger vents in the dash.
6h) No wiring harness for 4-pin connector even though literature says I should have one. Called the dealer. They said I had to buy it.
6i) Poor fit between spare tire and frame. Took spare tire down to add air and noticed deep indentations in the sidewall where it presses against the crossmember. Think that's a bit of a safety issue?
6j) Looked at inner body behind rear seats. Barely a coat of paint covering the primer.
6k) Poorly insulated cab. Winters here range 15-25 deg at night. Heat the truck up and once you get moving much of the cabin heat is lost.
6l) Driver's side leaf spring squeaks.

Someone please give me a reason to buy another one.

as of today, i hear and feel a clunk from what seems to be the front suspension or right beneath my feet. Every time I can hear it I can feel it as well. It's winter in Wisconsin and I just got back from a ski trip in a snow storm, so something could be lodged in the skid plate (thanks for the suggestion Chris). Does anyone else have any ideas?

i've had this every time i back out of my driveway and come up or down the curb, its intermittent, i think thats how you spell it. i have a 3" spacer lift front, and tsb and 1.5 block in back, if i go fast on a speed bump i can bottom out my rear shocks, not that that has anything to do with it, but it might..... its like a rock hitting the undercarriage, muffled, like the sway bar is loose, or one of the bushings..... i dunno, i rechecked all the nuts and bolts i removed or loosend when i put in the lift..... i dont have anything in my skid plate, i just removed it a week or so ago.

I dunno if this is the same noise I'm thinking of. The sound I hear sounds like the cluck when I run over a manhole cover, though there isn't one there. I've heard it twice. I think the wheel was turned both times. Other than that I don't know how to duplicate it. I've taken a look at my suspension and can't see anything wrong.

-AC Blower ticking, read a solution on the Forum, but haven't tried it yet.
-Rear Driver's side leaf spring clunk, fixed it doing something similar to the TSB for other Tacoma model.
-Rattling behind bench seat, around glove box, and passenger side kick panel.. don't care about it tough.
    - tranny or brakes something vibrates the whole truck when going downhill always on the morning, only does it once when the truck is cold, I let of the gas and brakes and the vibration persists pushing the brakes makes it worst have to pop it on neutral. (Anyone know what causes this please PM me)
    - POS radio, had issues also with replacement, replaced with aftermarket.

I like the truck so far, only concern is the vibration once in morning but as I said it only makes it once and not every day... overall its to early for me to make a solid statement about the truck, once I've had it for at least 5 years then I can state a solid opinion about it. Compared to what's on the market right now for this style of truck I prefer the Tacoma. I tried all of them (Frontier, Dakota, Ranger, Colorado etc etc) before purchasing the truck and the Tacoma was actually the highest priced with less features but once I tried the Tacoma I knew that this is what I wanted. :)
