I have the same issue. I took it to the dealer they told me it was a broken transmission mount. I had them replace it and it's still vibrating.

    6) -I've got mild vibes during acceleration that kinda disapear at higher speeds(although now I have new vibes at around 60Km/h)
-after starting the truck and engaging it in gear, during the first few seconds of acceleration I get a noise that I can only describe as a 'charge' or 'pulse' one and one only and then it's gone.
-4wd really clunks when engaged and disengaged, moreso at higher speeds (30+km/h, nothing crazy) worse than any other 4x4 I've owned or operated
-engine tick, which is unfortunately 'normal'
-'pulsing' or 'surging' in rpm, I've been at a stop light in D, in the snow and had the rear wheels start spinning, similar to a brake-stand on dry pavement
I think that's all for now, I really do love this truck though!

    6) ECM fried first 30k, as did O2 sensors (months after purchase, thanks for warrentee) . I got blacklisted from my dealership cuase i told off the mechanics after they left one spark plug wire unhooked and i almost died trying to merge onto the highway. Has always made strange whirring noise, and some random rattles. Paint on f pas fender came off while washing it. Bed anchors broke, tailgate folded in half. Hood skin separated from internal bracing/waves with the breeze. Engine light has been on for 90k, no one can stop it... Something's wrong with f pas suspension, clicks when wheel is cranked all the way, the wheels bent, the latch fell off the rear sliding window, the inverter broke, mud flaps fell off, and alternator corroded from river crossings...oh and just blew out the clutch monday. One time the transmission siezed up and the car wouldnt drive, some kind of computer BS that had no reason for happening. Cant think of anything else off the top of my head except the floor mat hook never keeps it in place.

Some of those sound self inflicted. But none the less a lot of them shouldnt have happened, well actually most of them. I probably could of got black listed at my dealer but I kept my cool. My mounts have collapsed in on my frame. Toyota wants me to pay a grand total of roughly........$10,000!

does anyone else have a automatic tranny that lunges or when it is shifting through gears 1-2 it shifts really hard! Like throws you back in your seat hard and almost sounds like its slipping till it hits the gear? Mine has been like that since i got the truck and has got progressively worse and now its at a stand still. The cd player doesnt work unless you put another disk in with it on top...old indian trick. AC/Fan/Temp lights dont work, couple other little things too

yeah i got it last 0ctober. Motor mounts caved into the frame, they want to do a whole frame swap but they wont cover it under my extended warranty and they wont admit its a manufacturers defect. Going to get it welded back up this next week hopefully sometime or in a couple of weeks and get it back on the road. Then its either small claims court to get some money out of them that they owe me or arbitration for some work done, we'll see

haha you're telling me about it, its been about 3-4 weeks without my truck. Its like hell on earth! I miss it too. Toyota customer is pretty shitty! Did you always have an 08 or did you trade your other one in for a 08?

I had a 99 extended cab 4x4, that truck rocked, never had any issues with it and had just under 200,000 miles on it. I love my 08 but there are definitely some issues with it that they aren't taking care of

That is freakin crazy!!! I wish you the best of luck on getting your money back too. Hopefully this will be a better year!

If its going to cost you as toyota quoted you at, I would look into something other than small claims. If im not mistaken washingtons small claims limit is $4,000. Might want to look into that. Good Luck!

Yeah ive already looked into it, its $5,000. The total cost of something to repair this will more then likely be less. Im not going to do a whole frame swap. Look at the Motor Mount Failure Forum on the 2nd Gen Tacomas forums. A lot of people on TTORA have had the same problems and some have fixed it themselves or had someone fix it for them for 0-3000 dollars. If we cant find someone to do it relatively cheap I will do a fix myself. I could take them to just court and try to get the whole 10,000 dollars out of them but i would have to sue for me, including attorney fees and me missing work to go an hour and a half to my dealer and other stuff. We'll see what I do
