My defrost vents won't work on my 02 Tacoma. Any ideas about how to fix this?

Is there air blowing out of the top vents? Is it hot? Have you done anything with the Radio or electrical stuff in your truck? Does it work a little? Do you have the AC on and the other button off with the heat on? It might be that thing that switches the way the air flows. It might of stripped a gear or something like that but I don't know for real just a guess.
