Winter is the whole point of leaving it on. When your window is frosted over and you need to get rid of it, you want the ice to sublimate, and it will only happen if the air is dry that is blowing on it. The heater core overwealms the AC evaporator pretty quick and I haven't found it to be an issue.

    That being said..:

    2009+ I guess?: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/7160-c-defrost-8.html#post2395617

Theres how you mod it if you really don't like it.

BTW I don't get defroster air when on floor on my 2008.

I know why is that way. Before A/C became prevalent in vehilces and even in to the mid 80s it was not this way. Most of the time in Texas when it is cold it is dry. There is usually no reason to run the compressor. I thought the switch was there so you had the choice. I guess I was wrong. I still say it is stupid not to be able to cut it off it you do not want it on with the defrost setting. Of course there are a lot of stupid things like no cargo light.

The AC compressor runs because its designed to. It's takes the moisture out of the air. Like a big dehumidifier. Then the air goes across the heater core and onto the windshield as hot, dry air. It's normal, and supposed to be that way. Don't worry.
