I'm not riled up, and being a pessimist most of the time I understand how it feels to be bitter about the ordeal. I don't see the point of people intentionally trying to get banned or ignored. It seems as if you're intent is to take the joy of ownership away from someone who isn't experiencing the issues or has them addressed. Been there, ruined a bunch of good relationships. It's hard to let it go but man I don't blame you for walking away from the Tacoma at all. I'd rather you stay and show us the cool stuff you do with the Subaru and the places you take it instead of just trying to burn a bridge to find your closure in that manner.

Basically, I know you're trolling but that's not who you are man, you're better than that :) *Manhug*

So it looks like some 2017's do have the TSB update. It's probably that mine was built earlier and they used the ECM that was installed in the 2016s.

It's gonna take me a while to get to AZ. Better start now :burnrubber:

I seriously doubt that my dealer flashed the ECM when the truck was delivered, so I'm assuming it came that way from the factory, which was a nice surprise.

What better excuse for a road trip? Gotta race a guy from the internet.... Except I'd rather come to CA. I like your town.

Ok...so let me get this straight as per my Vehicle Diagnostic Report, that the calibration number of 896650401200 represents the updated software for the transmission?

If my posts are taking joy out of your ownership of a vehicle you need to develop a thicker skin!

No worries though. the word's out that the 2016 is a polished turd, and there's already hints of these same issues being carried over into the 2017's. If pointing out the obvious is ruining your experience of owning the truck don't blame me, blame Toyota.

How does one check what version of the software they have? Build date early/mid August. I don't have specific, I believe 8/11. Would like to check. I do have some hesitation backing out of my driveway and then to drive in the mornings waiting for the transmission to engage.

I also have tested the cruise control to see if there are issues. Sometimes with CC set at 65 it downshifts and stays there for 30 seconds before upshifting again. No hill or gradient.

I never said you're ruining it for me. I guess I'll move along, you're very, absolutely right. I was simply trying to mistakenly explain just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean that everyone must now hate it to validate your world view. Goodbye friend.

Yes it's the updated software. What the tech wrote on my sticker was the Engine calibration code, which is also the same as yours. Your good to go.

I'm not sure how you check the calibration version but I'm sure the dealer can check it for you. It sounds like you may not have the TSB installed. The giveaway for me was the delayed shifting in the morning. Initially, I thought I may have the delayed shift. Then one day it took like 2-3 seconds for the transmission to engage from P -> D. At that point, I was pretty convinced I didn't have the TSB and I was right. Went in yesterday to get it done. No shift delay since. If you're experiencing the same kind of delay, I would take it in.

I'm not looking for yours or anyone else's validation to justify my opinions. Just expressing my thoughts, experiences and opinions just as you are.

Is there any way to tell if a 2017 has the update? Without taking it to Toyota and having them hook it up to there computer?

I used ODB Fusion for Android as suggested by dsmith9455 here: T-SB-0077-16 Rev 1 to check my calibration versions.
