I'm buying a TRD-Sport, 17" wheels, same suspension as the off-road, and has nicer looks than an off-road. I live in Florida, if you want speed, buy a bike cafe racer, if you want off road, buy this Toyota and go off road. I'm getting 4 wheel drive for Florida, flat and no snow, why the hell would I need 4 wheel drive you ask, well I like to visit home, New Jersey, especially during winter, perfect for 4 wheel drive. And the mountains up in Jersey are awesome, perfect for off roading. By the way, those who like speed, my bike does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, fast enough???

Where are these great off roading places you speak of? I live here in NJ because of work and would love to put my lift and tires to work. I'm in south jersey about 30 min south of Trenton.

South Jersey is flat, the mountains I'm referring to are in north Jersey, the ones I'm talking about start in a town called Wanaque. I have to look up the names of the roads that get you there again cause I live in Florida now. But you can ride the power lines forever, up and down rolling hills and you can branch off into the woods anytime you like, many trails. You have an email address?

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Also the suspension is different. Major components are the same but shocks, and sway bar are different. Also sports have fewer traction control options, including no atrac or locker.

OFF ROAD TRD is a TRACTION package and SPORT TRD is an APPEARANCE PACKAGE

The Sport has no more traction systems than all other 4WD Tacomas. Only the 4x4 Off Road has 1) Locking Differential 2) Hydraulic Brake Booster 3) A-TRAC (or Multi-Terrain in 2016)

The hydraulic brake booster is superior in providing the stronger limited slip action over the vacuum break booster found on the non-Off Road Tacomas.

That's pretty much the reason for going Off Road... to be secure in having the least chance of getting stuck or needing another vehicle along. If you are a solo off roader, and don't want to spend $$$ on after-market/ warranty voiding options to bring a non Off Road TRD up to the same level, then I recommend the Off Road TRD.

Now, if the looks of your truck are more important than the off road ability, and you like the bling of hood scoops, colored mirrors, etc. then the Sport is made for you... and other than lacking the increased traction ability, it is an excellent truck... it is a Tacoma!

Yep, it goes on and on... and as long as salesmen deceive or hold back details from buyers about the differences, I expect this will go on and on.:cheers:

The big reason between sport and off road is the long bed. I want to put on a shell to be able to sleep in it without having to put tailgate down and a tent thing on end. Also want at least a access cab.
AND want a manual transmission. A lot of wants with not a lot of options. Ugh

The Off Road long bed was added in 2016. USA only.

Huh? Have had two dealers tell me no long beds in off road. Is that with a access cab too and able to get manual trans?

You can now order a long bed off road. But you can only get the manual trans on the dcsb. But if your buying the trd off road then why get the manual trans? I think you lose things like the crawl control and multi terrain.

I think the Sport should have the option of an e-locker. Seems kinda ridiculous to not offer it in the Sport for no damn reason. :annoyed: Some of us prefer the scoop and color matched handles/bumpers/mirrors, but would still enjoy the benefits of an e-locker

Looks or Function? You must chose wisely, Grasshopper.
