My truck was hit by another car yesterday and I now have a crease/small dent on the right side of my chrome rear bumper. It does not look too bad but until I buy a new one, has anyone ever attempted to get a dent out of a Tacoma bumper? It does not seem to thick and maybe do-able. Any suggestions on how to do it?

Its do-able...but, it will be obvious that the bumper has been repaired. (Chrome makes even the smallest dent stand out).

I know it will show but trying to make it show less until I can afford another one. I was thinking of taking it off and resting on wood block and banging another wooden block with hammer from inside. Does that sound right?

I guess that would work... Mine had a dent in one of the corners of the bumper and the dealer managed to somewhat "fix" it. Just be careful where you're hitting w/ the hammer. Good Luck!

Personally, I would just leave the dent as is...the wood/hammer technique will make tons of smaller pock marks inside of the dent itself. A hammer won't be able to push 3,500 pounds of force to push the dent back out the same way the car pushed it in.

A new chrome bumper is about $500 installed at a bodyshop (I had to have it done as well)

Don't buy a new chrome bumper. For a little more cash you can get a real rear bumper. I regret buying a new chrome bumper for mine.

Rocktek has a sweet bumper out that you should look into.

I agree...If i were to buy a new bumper, i definitely buy a "tougher" aftermarket bumper.

Where are you located and how bad is the dent? I have an undented chrome bumper off an '06 that will rarely find its way back on my truck. I'd be open to an even swap if it's convenient and yours isn't too bad.

If another car hit you, why does he/she not purchase you a new bumper???

Unfortunately I dont know who hit me and my deductable would be more than a new bumper. I am looking at used but they are hard to find although I did see a couple on Ebay.
