Sorry about your truck. Geez, are you sure everyone is OK? Must be kind of bruised up.

I ran over a dog with my Bronco a few years ago. The dog froze in my headlights, I braked and the truck went right over it - never touched the dog.

there is no win-win when it comes to moose sized animals.. you can play out a million scenarios with that, but i'd still like to have the engine take the hit vs the door flying into a passenger.

Never, ever swerve to avoid some worthless piece of shit domestic animal. Square it up and drive right over it. People die and good trucks are killed avoiding animals. I live animals but have had to drill a few in my 50 years. Fuck em' they are not worth my life. I may swerve to avoid an elephant or a rhinoceros but a cat, dog or raccoon are toast. Hope your next truck is nice one!

Sorry PITA and anyone else offended but this is prime example of why, if there is an animal in the road, I will not swerve enough to get out of control to miss it. The animal is softer than trees or the ground when flipping. A person or especially a child, is another story though so no need for anyone to go there. OP, glad everyone is OK and sorry bout the truck. That sucks.
