As someone asked, I use the OEM bed divider with my Diamondback. Obviously some spots are limited but it still is very useful.

Thanks for the answer! I have my bed divider and wasn't sure if it can be used with the DB or not. Very happy I can!!!

I really appreciate the info! It's also good to know that you're only using the lift to move the rack on/off, which is all I would need it for, as well.

I plan to build a very similar RTT setup and hope to use one of the Diamondback covers. My biggest challenge has been figuring out a decent rack+RTT+cover combo where everything "just works" without damaging the cover or causing leaks. Do you happen to have any more pictures of your entire RTT+rack+Diamondback setup, or perhaps a build thread that I could check out? It sounds like I could really go to school on what you've done there.

I added some pics on my media page - PM if you can not see them. Some day I will get around to a build page.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/albums/diamonback.49543/

I went with a DiamondBack SE, KB Voodoo Premium Rack w/tonneau mounts, CVT Mt Shasta. All was mounted by myself and the wife. The only thing that I did not like is I had to remove the tie down cleats off the Diamondback near the cab to mount my rack. I could not get the tonneau brackets to clear the tie down cleat with them installed. They are easily removed and replaced with bolt/weather proof washer. I have seen other diamondback/voodoo rack threads with the tie down cleats near the cab left in place. I just could not figure it out.

Feel free to PM or ask other questions. Cool thing was the support on TW was amazing. I received discounts on everything by interacting with the vendors directly on TW.

Also one other note - we camp in CO where the weather starts off sunny/pretty then storms that are severe in the same day. We have made it through some amazing situations - tent solid and secure, every thing stowed in the diamondback dry for the morning coffee.

    Good luck with your build!

As you requested in PM. Pics of the rails. Sorry, I forgot to do this and remembered once it was dark. Hope it works for ya.

I have D-Link tie-downs under the rails at the factory bolt locations and I made the LED strips under the rails. They are zip-toed and don't impeed the T-Nuts that slide into the rails. I have my WaterPort also. There is a newer generation out now. I'll probably move it to the front (3rd) rail soon, but I cut out the mounting "sled" so it could straddle the Diamondback's mounting bolts. Hope that all makes sense.

I’m probably getting a DB HD on my next truck, and I’m thinking of replacing the cleats with L-track instead if I go that route vs a cap/canopy/topper. That would give more flexibility in locations to mount to, and you could remove/store the L-track accessories when not needed.

Nice idea. Post it over at the Diamondback Modification Thread once complete.

I put a DiamondBack cover on my 2004 Tacoma several years ago. Putting stuff on top of the cover and tying it down is an easy way to carry stuff. Only issue that I have had is minimal water leaks. Will try some more weather stripping soon. I would buy this cover again when I change trucks.

    Hi Everyone,
This is my first post on TW and I need some help on the DB cover. I'm getting my new TRD Pro soon and looking at the DB. Can someone measure the height between the floor of the bed and the bottom of the DB cover? Is it 19"? I have a snowblower that measures 20.1" height at the front and it would be great if I could slide it under the cover instead of removing the entire cover during storms. Also, I'm debating between the SE and HD. I'm 240lbs and would like the possibility of standing on the cover if I need to access the roof or get a RTT... I just feel that if I'm going to spend THAT much money, another $400 is not going to break the bank to get the HD. Thank you and look forward to getting my Tacoma and seeing more posts on TW!!!

I stand on my SE all the time when washing it. I don't worry about damaging it or it holding my weight.

If you have the money, get the HD. I think the SE can support a RTT since most of the weight is transferred to the rails with a proper setup, but peace of mind is worth it.

These results would help and be removable

I hate to ask, but can you measure the max clearance between the bed and the DP? Looking for 20.1 inches but not hopeful. Thank you again for your reply!

21" to the underside of the cover, but 19.5" to the bottom of the support struts. This is without the bed mat, subtract about 3/4"for that. Would be a tight fit. Not 100% sure. The center panel hangs a little lower at 19".

Do you mind providing some more pics of your diy drop mount for the waterport? I fabricated something but don't like it since the nuts vibrate loose and the flat bars aren't connected and move independently. Looking to improve it somehow.

Looks like you have the newer version that they released right after i purchased mine.

I'll take a picture of mine, but might not help you. Let me do some research real quick too to see what the new mount is like. At work atm.

Thanks. I like the drop plate that waterport developed but thought for $40, I can come up with something similar.

I've been reading every review I can find on tonneau covers. I'm almost ready to commit on a DB. I did read a review that said the biggest drawback was the cover getting super hot in the summer and could cook anything under it in the bed. Can someone donate their two cents on this? Thanks in advance.

I love my DB cover. My truck goes from DD to off road set up and the cover is an central part of that. Rugged, almost dust proof once I added weatherstripping around the tailgate, and secure. I modded the lock and cleats so my KB Voodoo Rack fits perfectly. Just got back from 200 dirt miles in the Mojave desert 3 days ago, the cover shares some of the load of the @KB Voodoo rack and I obviously I don’t lift the cover up with it loaded. Which is fine as my off road set up is a long drawer and DIY fridge slide. EA0D8200-3EE9-4E5D-85A3-19AFB81BB297.jpgA6E76EFC-A213-4333-B0F6-F8C305A27E78.jpg

DD mode, I leave the tonneau brackets so it’s literally 4 screws for the rack to go on and off, and the cover opens fine. I also installed fork mounts for my bikes 363FE257-7FEC-4880-B349-8ABADF6A5BA8.jpg77B3A30A-E113-47E6-876B-EA4F4082B1AE.jpg

I haven't put a thermometer to it, but i haven't had any issue with heat. I can put my hand on the top without hurting and i've worked in my bed with just my cover as shade without issue.

I live in central florida and have owned it for maybe a year and a half.

Anyone with a short bed gen 3 able to answer this:

With a DB HD or SE installed can you squeeze a stock or AMP bed extender on? It looks tight but doable. Would make the perfect combo.
