Why lemon law it ? just take the truck to another dealer of your choice trade it in. These trucks are worth so much right now dump that shit on someone else to deal with the problems .I get random noises in my truck and I’m about to do the same and move on with my life . Not saying all Tacoma are bad but if you get one that is complete garbage why stay with it and deal with the headaches. Best of luck .

My 2020 sr5 had no such noises, and still doesn't. It had some very minor vibration while coming to a stop that wasn't related to the brakes, but i suspect the converter as it wasn't there when applying the brakes in neutral. After 1k miles or so the truck settled in. The transmission takes time to learn your driving habits, and will shift much smoother. It takes around 5k miles for the suspension to soften up too.
At any rate take it back to the dealer so they can drive it.

just want to chime in and say that my truck is driving wayyy better now with 15k miles than it did when new. I think when people get a new vehicle they expect it to drive perfect because it is "new" but the reality is it takes some time to break in and drive properly. Im not saying you dont have an issue because these trucks come with some problems occasionally. My truck had to have the axles replaced, the axles also warped the drums and they replaced those as well. My transmission isnt perfect but it is much better than when I got the truck, the more it breaks in the better it drives.

Trading it in would be around a $10k loss. A dealer is not going to give me MSRP plus taxes and fees. For $10k it's worth getting my lawyer involved.

Probably not going to do that. I will just drive the truck and sell it in a couple years

Toyota quality apparently is not what it was. Having axles replaced on a brand new truck is not normal. I would not have bought this truck if I knew it had so many quality issues.

I would love to drive more if my truck didn't make me worry every time it makes a whirring/grinding noise, or shifts super rough.

Nobody has really made me feel any better about these issues. Seems like the 3rd gen taco just has a ton of issues with the drivetrain

Why worry? Its under warranty. That's why Toyota put a warranty on their products...its a machine and machines fail at all points in their lives. Drive it before the time warranty runs out. If it breaks, they will fix it.

Try a drain & fill on the Trans (cold/engine off). You should get close to 3 quarts out of it. Put 3 new quarts in, and see if it helps with the issues.

Also, could be the rear end? You could change the oil in the rear diff, with 75/110 synthetic oil. It could help, and wont hurt.

My opinion? You’ve never spent any appreciable time in a truck before you bought one. Trucks (of any make or model) drive a lot differently then do cars or SUV’s. They also make noises which you may not be used to or are better masked in a car or SUV. I doubt, based on your description there is anything wrong with your Taco.

As far as reliability goes, my ‘20 Taco OR has yet to be back to a dealer for anything since the night I bought it 1.5 years ago. Then again, my ‘93 T100 also never needed any warranty work either and I’ve owned that truck since ‘95

I’ll await a response from your crack team of Lawyers

Did I miss something or is the OP still talking about lawyering up without actually having had a dealer look at his truck and trying to get his issues addressed. It's starting to sound to me like someone who just likes to hear the sound of his own voice - complaining. Get that fucker into a dealer, any dealer and see what they say.

    Yeah.
There are 10 Toyota dealerships in the Seattle area. Do some research and pick the one with the best service department. An actual lemon is a vehicle that has been in multiple times for the same problem and can't be fixed.

Not a lot of quality issues, but every issue shows up here on TW. I'm pretty sure your truck can be fixed.

Lemon laws are different state to state but most of the rules are very similar. I just lemon lawed my 2019 silverado in 2019. Truck had major issues. I learned a TON about the process.

I could go into detail but your truck will not qualify for lemon law at this point nor will it ever for the issue you are having.

I do not want to spend my time in a dealership. That is the main issue. Im not going to contact any lawyer, but I do not think I'll be keeping this truck for very long.

I didn't buy a new vehicle to have to take it to the dealer and leave it there. I could have bought a 20 year old truck and fixed it myself if I wanted to spend that much time on a truck

Ya I am starting to realize how horrible and essentially useless the law is in most states. I'll be looking to drive this truck for a couple years, and probably move on from it if the issue doesn't subside.

Ya I visited a few of them while vehicle shopping which is why I'm not in a hurry to go back. I will probably just live with the issue unless it gets worse
