Long story short, I just bought some Hankook tires for my Tacoma and I have NO CLUE if I bought good tires. I just needed tires asap because I’m about to go on a long cross country drive and my current ones where a no. My tires are 295/55r20. Which Hankooks did I buy? I have NO idea. But all I know is i’ll be getting them installed at Discount tire later today. Are Hankook tires good? Please help me feel better with the decision I made. The tire guy said those where good tires but I know that could be a lie. I should’ve done research but like I said, I was NOT expecting to buy tires today.

Can't speak for 100% of them, but Discount Tire has always done well by me.
Hankook Tires are usually pretty good. Depends on how much you want to spend.

They will be fine, don't worry. As long as it's not done dinky little tire it'll probably last you long time. Get the Discount Tire warranty though.

It's a decent brand. I've had a set. You got one of these 3 it appears as they are the only that popped up on the Hankook site for that size.

Doubt there is anything to worry about as long as they are the same size you are currently running.

If they’re the Hankook Dynapro or the new Hankook Dynapro AT2 then you did indeed get good tires.

Never run Hankook but my father has and has always said good things about them, that being said, if the tires have not been installed yet I don’t see why you can’t take time to reconsider your purchase, return or even exchange for different tires. It’s your money, don’t let the distributer/installer rush you. There’s nothing wrong with saying time out, I need to think on this some more. Best of luck!

I would hope they would have sold her the AT2

OP, do you have a receipt of how much you paid in total (or per tire) as that would narrow down which you got quickly.

The guy said $370? Or something like that per tire. All I know that total for two tires was $760
I bought all 4 but yeah.

You can always call them back and ask for confirmation real quick on which tire model you ordered. That’d be the fastest way to find out.

I cannot imagine dropping $1500 on tires without actually knowing what I was buying. As for the model, look at the sidewall?

Why not scrap the road hazard coverage and put the $ towards a new spare instead? Chances are low you will use the road hazard, and if you ruin a tire, you will have a good one of the same type and vintage to replace it with. In 4 years if you ruin a tire what you have on there now may not be exactly available.

As far as brand goes, Hankook is a reputable tire. I would not worry about quality, they're pretty solid.

That's what I was thinking but since nobody had mentioned it yet I thought maybe it's more common than I thought it was.

Hankook Dynapro ATMs have been my favorite tire of all the ones I have run on my three Tacomas (265/75-16). They are reasonably priced (ie. cheap) compared to more popular off-road brands, they are QUIET on the highway (rare for a tire that works well off road), they are great in the sand (beach or desert), I never have a problem with them in mud, snow, or rock climbing, either.

Other tires I have owned (BFG Rugged Trail TA; Toyo Open Country TA; Cooper Discoverer STT; Cooper Discoverer ATR; Definity Dakota AT)

Look guys, I could have made the smart decision and looked and researched. But I DID NOT. I’m literally just a college student trying to see if I did okay in the decision that has already been made. I don’t know anything about the car world lol.
