but how fast can it go before it's bad for the CAR? i didn't ask for anyone. i'm not going to go 70 mph when there's an empty road and i have to travel 400 miles.

Bringing this back from the dead...
The whole reason I bought the 6sp was precisely due to the lower first and 6th gears. Figure'd that once I add 33's the gearing will be spot on. The auto felt "spongy" as though it had an impediment. The 6sp felt as though it had another 20+ hp and moved better. Had three others with me who all test drove it. I asked all of them separately what opinions they had, and it was unanimous.

X2. I have a 5 speed. I'd love to have the same with a extra higher gear for the Interstate, would save me some gas $ and make Obama happy, which is always my main concern.

As you can see, with the 6-speed, the 6th gear isn't some magic overdrive gear. In fact, 5th gear in the 5-speed is actually a little taller.
The tire charts factor in tire diameter to determine engine RPM.
    http://www.4x4offroads.com/gear-ratio-chart.html

5th in the 6-speed and 4th in the 5-speed are the direct, straight through gears (1:1)

Look at your RPM's. I would say that if you were at 4-5000 RPMs in 5th you would be somewhere in the range of going 85-100 mph. Doing that over a good amount of time would suck gas but isnt bad for your engine. Anything above 5k rpms for a consistent amount of time I think would be bad but who knows, toyota engines can take a beating.

In my 05 Jeep I have start out at 2nd, then 4th, then 6th. That thing is geared so low sometimes it feels like im driving a John Deere.

Exactly! I am tired of people saying you need to regear to run 255/85r16. They all have automatics!

Is the 6 speed made by aisen or getrag? I thought it was the RA60 by aisen

    Thread necromancy...

Thanks for this information. I was wondering if it would be worth it to check into adapting a 5 speed from a 3.4L to a 6-speed from a 2nd Gen when I regear to 4.88s on my trail rig, which is not a trailer queen. Looks like the OD gear is actually lower in the 6-speed. I'd like the lower 1 st gear for crawling obstacles, but the lower OD gear is critical for keeping the RPMs down at interstate speeds, so it'd probably not be worth the effort to adapt it.

    You are correct.
Also, the aisen 6sp in the FJ was different, had more of an overdrive. Not sure if any of the lower gears were different from the RA60.
