Hypothetically if your brand new truck with less than 7,000 miles on it got rear ended and looked like this: IMG_0142.jpg And the offenders insurance offered you $1,500 for diminished value, what would you do. Hypothetically your truck is a 2017 TRD OR 6MT.

    ask for more.
never take their first offer as its usually significantly below what it should be and they're just trying to get off easy.

You decline and throw out a much higher number. Before you do, research how much the wreck diminished the value of your truck. Then, fight for what you should get. If it looks like they are going to screw you then lawyer up. Never take a first offer from an insurance company. Their goal is to keep as much money in their pot for as long as possible. When they try to pay quickly they do so strategically because once you sign that waiver you are done, even if you later on find you have a compressed disc or something.

Hypothetically, i would be pissed and go after them. Your truck aint gonna be the same, your gonna get lower resale and any panels repaired will rust in 2-3 years unlessed replaced wholesale. Get as much as you can and then get some more. Thats what the offender paid the insurance company to give you. If i rear-ended you id expect my insurance at the very least not to rear end you too.

In the same boat brother. First one insurance gave us $1,300 just for the bumper. I was able to do it myself with parts come to just $150. I kept the rest and got some camping gears. This second accident is much more damage around $3,000 worth just from the rear bumper. Still playing the waiting game with their insurance adjuster.

Honestly the repair is great. 100% OEM parts and perfect color match. Couldn't be happier. The only issue is what I will lose if I ever trade it in.

This is just for diminished value, the insurance already covered 100% of the repair cost and 0 deductible.

I guess it is hard to eat chicken wings, drink soda, change the radio station, and text while driving. It takes a special talent....

I believe diminished value is based on the repair cost... I dealt with the same thing with 7k miles on my new truck.

Here is what mine came to...

I think $1500 is very fair for DV on a minor rear ender like that... Take the money and mod! That's what I did! Front Pelfreybilt bumper and SOS sliders!

Seeing pics like this makes me want to get a solid steel rear bumper. Bummer. Sorry for your troubles.

I would tell them you're having back and neck pains after the accident, tell them you will get back with them after you see your doctor.

Yeah I'm not the kindest person when it comes to people running over my stuff. My family and I were out last night eating and as we were walking to our Yukon, a carload of kids come barreling through in an old Isuzu Trooper and cut through a parking psace and nailed a guy's new parked F-150. Then they parked their car and went and got in another one and hid. I walked inside the restaurant and asked whose truck it was, found the owner, showed him what they did, and gave him my number and told him I'd be glad to be a witness. All this time the kids were still hiding in another car across the parking lot.
