Looking to grab a set of Diode Dynamics SS3 DOT fog lights for my OR but unsure whether to go with the sport or pro level.

I've heard the pro are a bit too powerful for their intended use and that the sport is the better choice.

For those of you who have either what are your thoughts and which would you recommend?

I’m running the yellow sports on mine and they’re absolutely insane in terms of light output. Hard to believe they’re legal, but they are. I’m very happy with it and you can always change the lenses out between yellow and white.

I have the pros and they're bright. The ss3 max is what you shouldn't run unless its foggy/bad weather/offroad

I run the SS3 max fogs and highly recommend diodedynamics regardless of which one you choose. Incredible wide output. Aim them properly with the side screws holding them to their bezels. Never been flashed.

Comparison shots with the TRD Pro rigids below. Rigid on driver. SS3 max on passenger. Yes, you can bring the beam lower. Aimed for comparison pics.

I believe the MAX are too bright to be street legal. They are wicked though!

I have DD sports, and they are bright. I feel bad for other drivers sometimes. I use them without the OEM headlights sometimes when I drive in the backroad at night.20210213_204900.jpg

The Max are street legal and have sharper cut offs than the Pros, meaning they are kinder to oncoming drivers than the Pros (which are also street legal).

    Comparisons from the SAE thread:
Diode Dynamics SS3 Max, Diode DynamicsSS3

Do you have covers on your TRD Pro Rigids? Because the TRD Pro Rigids do not come in yellow.

This is why I went with the Max (better cutoff) and I made sure they were aimed a bit low. I only use them if the weather is bad or if the driver in front of me pissed me off.

Here’s my pros and sport lights. The pic was taken at a weird angle and I’m fairly certain the lights are properly aimed

    Fog: SS3 Pro
    Ditch: SS3 Sport

You shouldn’t have that much glare from the Pros if properly aimed and the photo is taken from above the cut off.

Correct. The rigids have the amber lens covers applied. They are not bad for OEM fogs… but absolute garbage when compared to diodedynamics
