Yea all our new models have disclaimers on the radio regarding DCM operation. Didn't see them before.

The DCM is usually a pain to remove, and Toyota is very reluctant to replace them.

Also for those that don't know. They have batteries.... and they can die... causing issues :D

I have been wondering this myself as I've been looking for a 2017-2018 Tacoma as I don't care for the Safety Connect "features" of the 2019+. I did a couple day pass to toyota's service and found pretty much the same thing you guys did, that it appears it can be disconnected, but I don't have a 2019+ to try it on as far as disconnecting the DCM and it's GPS/Cell antennas, and rewiring/bypassing the right tweeter and microphone for the nav/radio. I'm pretty pumped now as that means I can now look for a 2019+ as well, but for anyone who has done this (or for guys whose DCM battery has, ah, died) - does it throw any check engine light codes, or is it a silent error?

What disclaimers are shown on the radio regarding the DCM?

Did you manage to disable your DCM? Any error codes after doing so?

I pulled my DCM fuse right after buying mine new. No error codes or any other issues. Once the built in battery dies, you'll see the icon greyed out on the headunit and the SOS light on the overhead button go out. I don't use the overhead mic so don't care that it doesn't work.

Can you share where exactly the DCM module is located in the 2018 Tacoma? We have removed the glove box following the instructions from a different thread but the DCM is not in the same place as the thread. It is difficult to find exactly where it is! Thank you!

2018 doesn't have telematics or a DCM module, that didn't start until MY 2020.

Thank you so much! We have been bewildered not finding it or the fuse.

Does anyone know where the other GPS antennas are located? We unplugged the one near the drivers side of the dash, but it still tracks with precision as I drive. I have experienced being followed unfortunately so need choice around GPS function.

The vehicle GPS does not allow anyone to track you (without the DCM) only for you to track yourself on a map. I hope I understood your misunderstanding.
