I write this from a perspective of being letdown.

Love my new 2016 Tacoma limited 4x4. Look, ride, feel, etc. It is a month old. 2000 miles. Manufactured July 2016.

Disappointed because it's been in the shop two occasions for 4 separate issues.

    1. Engine oil leak due to sensor and seal.

    2. Power train noise at low speed similar to a brake pad/rotor rubbing (basically noise is in conjunction with tire turn). Transfer case replacement needed.

    3. Delayed park to drive engagement or reverse to drive engagement.

    4. Strange idling when in park. Bounces between 600-900 rpms. Was told this is normal.

First time Tacoma owner. Love the design, and bought because of legendary reliability. I'm a buy and hold as long as I can car buyer.

My question is, has anyone ever had success with getting Toyota corporate to help monetarily if I were to trade in? I'd like a 2017 now since my trust factor is low. Truck is appraised at 5k less than I bought a month ago by the dealer I bought from originally.

    Thank you.

There's one guy on here who I believe got Toyota to buy back his truck. Let me see if I can find it.

I've always heard that you don't buy the first year redesigned vehicle, they take a year to work out all the bugs... I thought that was old sayings.:der:

    3. can be fixed with the TSB

    4. Is either due to the AC compressor cycling or the Atkinson Cycle happening during idle which is in fact normal.

    2. Did they replace your transfer case?

I assumed my July 2016 manufacturing captured the transmission tsb. Hopefully not.

They are replacing the transfer case, yes.

I thought one and hard about the 1st year redesign saying...One would think vehicle designs, particularly redesigns, are rigorously tested before being put in production.

I'm probably taking more of a hit on trade in due to 2017 being close to arrival.

Thanks for sharing everyone, and thanks for locating the buy back post.

    1. Did they fix the leak under warranty?

    2. When is the transfer case being replaced? Do they have the truck now or are you driving it and likely getting worse over time?

    3. Since you exhibit the symptom to do the TSB, have them do it to see if it fixes the delay.

Lemon laws vary from state to state so one person's outcome will not be applicable to all cases.

Frontier might be a good truck, but doesn't hold it's value like Tacoma.

Considering the multitude of problems your truck has exhibited out the gate, should be an easy case of convincing them to offer extended warranty on a truck with its current history. The dealer might be fixing it but they shouldn't be doing all this work if it was done right from the factory. Toyota should offer of extending the warranty for some "peace of mind".
