Can anyone chime in and tell me the basic difference between
    DiscountTire.com and
    DiscountTireDirect.com

Does it benefit me to use one vs the other?

My local DT is a gem, take all three cars there! I just love the fact they treat my wheels as I would.
With care… Mostly when removing and installing lug nuts…

i was told years ago, by a store employee that discount tire direct was unaffiliated. I still don’t really believe it, because they use the same graphics and everything.

Edit: see my screenshot… I must’ve just misunderstood. They are a separate business, same company.

    Yeah I don’t buy that either….

Few years ago I got some Hankook tires for the Taco from DTD.com and I had called DT to ask about costs to M&B and the rep asked where I got them and I told them, he said oh cool, my M&B fee would be the same as if I got them in the store.

I’ve been to about a dozen different Discount Tire/Americas Tire stores across the country. Never a bad experience, the customer service is always top notch, even when they are busy.

We are sorry to learn of your experience at our store. Unfortunately although it sounds like we are making it right by covering the cost of the repair there is a bit of your time involved as well. If this was a recent experience and you would like us to reach out to the local store manager, please shoot us a pm. We will make sure you are taken care of.

We can confirm the posted image.

Discount Tire Direct, Discount Tire and Americas tire(in some parts of California) are under the same umbrella. Discount Tire Direct is the mail order division designed for folks who are not near our store locations. We attempt to make the experience uniform regardless of how you choose to do business with us. There would be no benefits to one over the other however if you are near a store location we recommend utilizing them directly. We also guarantee our OTD price so although the pricing should match should you find a difference our stores are happy to do a price match.

Here is my first experience with them:

I have to say discount tire website buying experience sucks. Dated UI design, no option to sort by wheel weight, constant nagging about adding a vehicle, cannot uncheck installation fees

I much prefer shopping from tire rack, and I think discount tire now own tire rack so they can probably get rid of discount tire's online shopping front.

I bought tires and TPMS from tire rack and shipped to my home address.
I used Google reviews to see which discount tire near me is good, and narrowed the list down to 3. I drove to all 3 to check them out. Although they were all very friendly and attentive, only in 1 location I was able to get a technician to talk to me about road force balance in detail and my OCD about wheel balance and care not scratching the wheel. So I ended up choosing that location for mounting the tires and balance them.

I saw discount tire shops use air impact, and since I have aftermarket wheels and acorn lug nuts that specify hand tools only, I just brought them the wheels and tires and picked up when they finished, and then I installed myself with a 3 ton jack at home.

turned out not a single scratch, and wheels perfectly balanced.

I'm happy with experience, and will go back to the same location asking for the same technician next week for another set of wheels on my Tacoma.

Shout out to Discount Tire. They price matched customoffset.com on the Method 316's 17x8.5 0 offset for $223.50 a tire and I was able to get BFG TA KO C Load 285/70/17's for $273 a tire. BFG is having a $110 off promotion for 4 tires and then I saved 5% on top of that for the veteran discount. $2333 out the door with tax, installation and tire certificates, great deal.

Also Thanks to Doug who is the @Discount Tire rep here on the board, very helpful!

Will post pictures once everything is installed on my 22 Army Green TRD Off Road once they are installed on 9/12.
