Discount Tire won't price match

Anyone else experience this. I am looking at some tires that 4WheelParts has a good deal on, so I call up discount tire to see what they can do. They call Dick Cepek and then call me back saying the price 4wheelparts is telling me is way below their cost and they can't come close. What about the "we won't be undersold?"

 

There's usually limitations if it's that good of a deal.

I buy tires from nobody but DTD

 

Didn't know they were on here... and the respectable thing to do? I guess I'm slightly confused on how I disrespected them? I've bought every set of tires I've bought except 2 sets for a mustang back in my college days, and a set for a previous swagger wagon from these guys. But I do price shop and then take my business to them.

Not saying you really direspected them, but you call them out in a thread and they should be given the chance to comment that's all.

Clearly you miss the point. And I might do that, however I would rather purchase from Discount if they can get close or get me into something similar for similar money. Doesn't seem that outrageous of a request. The reason I like purchasing from Discount is I know they are all over the place so if i have an issue on road trips there is usually one around. But that being said as a responsible consumer price shopping is still something one should attempt before just throwing a grand around.

 

they should at least match the tire price that 4wheel has as long as u verify it thru an estimate on paper, funk them and go to COSTCO or BJs and get some tires they match anyones price as long as its a legit estimate on paper, the mounting and balancing,warranty add ons prices are a different thing tho.

 

costco is an option... BJ's not sure we have those down here.

 

go for man lots of peeps have had good results using big box stores for tires, no BS and a straight up price with all tax and add on road hazard,balancing/mounting prices listed before purchase to the penny. mostly all tire dealers these days match on the rubber if the estimate is on legit and verifiable if not go else where especially if they promote a price match and then fall back on small print and excuses to get out of it. go else where, I recently called DTD to ask a few questions in the chatline and wasn't to enthused with the answers I got on tire specifications and how the warranty (roadhazard) etc works, where I live theres no DT shops I would have to deal with a 2nd party installer.

 

Thank you for your comments. I'm not sure the circumstances between your local Discount Tire store and the online price with 4WheelParts. Our company as a whole do our best every day to beat competitors pricing; there can be some circumstances where they could not match a price, for example, on products not typically carried in stock. We would be happy to check into any pricing for you, though.
