Dont get nilight. Lol 10 dollars each and shitty. Get opt7 or better imho.
And idk about the other colors, but even with shitty nilights the glare off my superwhite hood makes me see less cause i lose my nightvision. And any grime/humidity on windsheild becomes visible.

Sounds like you've had a poor experience with these... do you still recommend ditch lights in general? Or were they just not for you?

I got the nilights on my truck. Went cheap to make sure I liked having the ditch lights before I drop $200 on rigids. I love having the side fill.

Nilights in general for me show up as a dim blue on my white garage. Compared to the 32 inch opt7 light bar they are waaay dimmer and blue instead of white. I plan to get opt7 pods soon. As they dont even show up on what they are pointed at when anything else is on

Am definitely a fan! I have 6 caliraised 3x2 pods on my truck and hopefully a single row 19.5" light bar as soon as I get my southern style slimline bumper mounted!

Maybe you can answer this. For the ditch location, is there an advantage to a spot beam pod rather than a flood beam? It seems as though most of the people who have commented have spots. I was under the impression a flood beam would be more beneficial for the up close corner lighting.

Floods and spots are both beneficial. Just my $0.02 but I think in most situations a lot of light is wasted with spotlights. Unless you're in that range where you're lighting up a particular object or looking for something like a 90-degree turn the light will be just shinning out into Blackness and dissipating. Flood lights have a more dispersed pattern that helped light up the immediate area such as the ditch on the side of the road, ruts or large Boulders in the road and even low hanging branches. I'm running the 4 flood pods in the ditch location and they greatly increased visibility heading down Forest roads at night. With that said my plan for the light bar will be to have it in a spot pattern.

I went with spot rigid dually's on CBI brackets... didn't want flood as I felt I would lose too much light on my hood

Is there a size limit to the lights you can mount to the CBI brackets? Would a light pod that is too tall or wide prevent you from opening the hood all the way? I have a set of the inexpensive auxbeams mentioned earlier, but they are much larger than rigids or kc light pods... Just curious.

I can't speak for all manufactures but the from I've seen most second gen ditch lights mount to the cowling area where as 3rd gens mount to the hood hinge. Id think that 3rd gens would run into problems with large lights first since the hood would have to come up very high to contact on a second gen. You can see on my 3rd gen there is still plenty type of room with the hood open.
