Nice write up. Been trying to build up the courage to take on my bedside project.
This write up helped. Turned out good. Well done!

Thanks man appreciate the feedback on it. I had a first gen as well and when I installed bedsides on it I had to get the bedside cut off and the spot welds drilled out. So for you, unfortunately it will be a decent process compared to my "bolt on" situation. That being said, if you do take it on it would be cool to see your findings and experience. If anything it would be nice to add it to this thread if you care to so the first gen guys can get an opportunity to understand what is required.

Solid...the only reason I made this thread was so the internet would direct people here for it. Not that it is that hard of an install, but sucks when you only have the heresay to rely on for doing it. What are you looking to throw on your ride?

I considered glass at one point. Ended up going a different route but props for a solid write up on an uncommon east coast mod.

Appreciate the feedback homer! Man I combed the internet for almost a week thinking I could find some other reference besides that the second gen bedsides "should" be bolt on. When I cautiously found out they actually were, I decided to alleviate my dilemma on others who might have a curiousity or desire to do this. I think many of the west coast guys get together and just grind this out for the install as this is more common there as you describe.

My end of the day hope is for someone searching for a bedside Tacoma removal, that they find this from google or tdub. I have to admit it does make things a little wider and caused me to be more cautious this weekend with it, but then again I need the space.

What route did you end up going? I always like how your ride is all about function!

    I did this instead:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/because-fender-flare.229239/
    Mostly due to cost.
There's a lot of folks on 35's now but back when I did it there was not as much info to go on - similar to your situation here.
Pennsylvania state inspection requires that the tires not stick out past the fenders - this was as good as I was going to be able to get.
I've got another stock set of bushwhackers in my shop now - I always wanted a color matched set so I'm making another set. :D

Looks like a serious process and a bummer on the ruling about the flare. I think my wheels stick out another almost two inches. If you had went glass, would they have technically covered them? I think you have pioneered quite a few things based off what I have seen. When is the color matched set coming out?

Old thread revival time! I also have what I’m told is McNeil (bought off a member here) but they only came with like 2-3 marking holes per bedside. Is this strange?

    A thing or two...
My Advanced Fiberglass Concepts bedsides had markings for every hole. Most of them weren't in the right spot, but were close.

I would have to check out my stuff but I believe I had similar markings with mine. Mcneil is kind of hit or miss with their references. I think I went with one hole reference that lined up good and after drilling that out I confirmed the marks of the others which I believe lined up pretty good. I would get everything lined up and ready to drill before you start making holes...glass can be weird depending on the mold.

Mine were ok, the gap on top of the taillights though was pretty bad. Luckily my taillights are blacked out so it blends in or else I would be bothered by it.

Yea Im in the same boat with that...I had glassworks on my first gen and it wasnt perfect, but as long as its workable and stable without being retarded across the block then im good.

Haha maybe thats some low ass standards.

Haha no I’m right there with ya. I knew going into it that “glass is never perfect” so I wasn’t bummed or expecting perfection

    @Coot83

Just followed your steps to put on my new ADV bedsides !

    Good clear instructions !

    one thing to maybe add:

Step 9: where you priced off a little grommet — I had to remove not only two gromets, but I also had two 10mm bolts there for a support as well.
    631BFCEC-81BA-4F49-8DAD-31AD489BF6DC.jpg

Might be because of the long bed, year, or idk ?
Thought I’d let others know! Those two bolts stumped me for a couple minutes !

Ah nice man...I think I will try to add this into the stack if you dont mind. I think the inner shape for mine was probably slightly skinnier with being a short bed, but def along the same lines.

Glad to hear you got the new bedsides on man! Pretty cool that this could help someone out too!

Hey Guys! Got my truck at the shop doing bedside install and a full wrap. Stopped by today to check progress and the guys are having a ton of trouble getting taillights to fit up even close to correct. Before they started I gave them this writeup to help with install but not going as planned. Everything else looks right but there's a huge gap on driver side and passenger side lights, the passenger is worse. I did go in expecting some fitment issues but we're talking nearly a 1/2" gap on the passenger side. Anything I'm missing here??

Note: these are advanced fiberglass on a 2013 short bed
