Does the chime make noise if any other door (besides the driver's) is open when the truck is turned off? I was thinking, maybe we could run the driver's door switch to either the front passenger switch or the rear driver (seems easier)--then your dome light would work fine and no chime?

Thanks for the great idea. I tried to just tape over the speaker but that had little effect. Ended up just cutting the speaker pretty much like your result.

In the service manual found the directions and diagrams and a snapshot of YouTube video removing the first panel to be removed.

Or you can just take it to the dealership and have them disable it...

This because simple problems often have simple solutions. Dealership, 5 minutes, free dollars and boom, problem solved

It only chimes if you open the door before shutting truck off. If you kill the truck then open the door, it doesn't chime. I have a bad habbit of pulling in the driveway, and while gathering up my stuff, opening the door, then shutting off truck. Chime starts...

Interesting, I open my door before shutting it off to make sure the door will clear a parking divider, and it still doesn't chime. Maybe I'm not opening the door far enough.

Not sure...but I have extensively tested it both ways and it consistently does exactly what I said it does.

Maybe the dealer broke mine when they removed the dealer-lot alarm.

Has anyone had any other negative affects from doing this? All the endless beeping drives me crazy and my dealer would only disable the seat belt chines.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
With this relatively hack that as mentioned and all its draw backs, one thing I just though of is that this COULD be a trick to trick the vehicle with remote start NOT to turn off when you get into your car. You can still power unlock your doors, and even swinging it open while the car is running in remote start will allow the remote start vehicle to think the doors are still “closed”. Now putting it in gear and driving off, that’s a different story not sure how it would react to that...

Finally got around to removing this damn chime speaker. Got so tired of hearing the thing beeping at me to close the door and not open the door while in drive. Peace and quiet at last.

I did mine a while ago, and also pulled the beeper from under the hood. Pure silence/bliss. I love the truck so much more now. I wish it didn't disable the turn signal clicky sound, but oh well.

Where’s the beeper under the hood? I’ll pull that damn thing out too.

It's on the driver side, near the headlight I believe. Like right inside the hood. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that's where it is. It's a little grey box and came off pretty easily. I then wrapped the connector in electric tape to keep the elements out.

And I have to be sure not to walk off with the key-less key fob while the truck is running. Small price to pay for me.

Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send you some photos of the wire location.
