    LOL!

I prefer adhesive-lined shrink tubing, but to use that requires the ability to slip the tubing over the wire and get it far enough away so the soldering heat doesn't shrink it.

That can be a problem under the dash where not only is the harness stuffed and wrapped, but there is also not enough slack to actually cut the wire, strip, then pull an inch out of the harness to get enough overlap to twist and solder without stressing the connection.

So the back up is to strip an inch, wrap and solder, then tape with 3M 33, and I'll then secure the tape with a small zip-tie just to ensure it doesn't unwrap from the heat in the summer.

Thanks for the killer easy mod. Didn't even finish my beer. New way to piss off oncoming drivers (when I forget to flick 'em off)!! Will be testing this out extensively to see if there are any fails...

I'm about to do it on a 2013 as soon as I get home (I realize your post is a month old almost).

I'm used to HID's and the lows + fogs aren't bad... the highs throw but I can't see right in front of me. Thanks for the post!

I was under the assumption these were two different mods. This thread being fogs stay on with highbeams... the other (the link you posted) being "fogs always on".

I'm looking to keep the fog lights on with high beams and if the lows beams are on as well that's even better as long as it's safe.

I don't have any need to have the fogs on by themselves or with the parking lights... I just need to be able to see up close when my high beams are on lol. I may be a bit confused and will re-read both threads. It sounds like this can be achieved either method if I'm not mistaken.

The best way to describe this mod is that your fogs will come on with the lights the way the normally with (when your fog switch is left on) and when your brights are activated your fogs do NOT turn off. The fogs will NOT come on w/o your headlights and therefore you don't have to remember to turn them off like the other version of this mod that uses a jumper wire. So the difference is that mod will allow you to run your fog lights at ANY time but you also need to remember to turn it off when you don't want them on.

That's what I thought. Mod is done and works perfect. Now I have highs + lows + fogs :) Cheers!

That is absolutely correct... I can run my fogs with low or high beam.

My fog-light switch still works too, I can turn them off anytime.

With the caveat that with the other method you MUST turn the off with the fog light switch since they work independently of the headlights. I basically want my fogs on anytime my headlights are on so I leave my fog light switch on and haven't had to touch it since I did this mod. One less thing to worry about.

I just prefer to have the ability to switch them on or off.

Mine switch on and off just fine... at least with the headlights which is the only time I need them anyways. It just depends on what you want vs which mod you should do.

ummm there is a concern of this mod.. Some state have laws stating cant have fog lights on while high beam on. NY state law stated that. So good luck with tickets and court fees..

As with ALL mods it's important to know your laws at the local, state & federal level and modify according to what the law allows. Neither I nor this site are responsible for someone's decision to break the law. It's called personal responsibility and I think we're all mature enough to make such decisions by ourselves so that's why it was never spelled out since it should just be common sense. In today's climate where zero personal responsibility is taught though I have to wonder....

Yes that is the law, but it's stupid.

Alright so I'm driving alone on the highway and I have my foglights AND highbeams on right?

I see a car coming and flick them back to low beam, with my fogs still on (which is the stock "legal" way) What's the problem here?

As long as you aren't high beaming and fog lighting people at the same time there is no issue.

I agreed that its everyone understands that doing the mods must take risks but use common sense.
A7.... far as concern longs no other in coming drivers its fine.. but going on the highway.. the cops can sure spot you away.. depends where they are hiding/.

Let's not turn this how to thread into a political discussion. All that needs to be said regarding checking your local laws has been stated.

Back to the topic at hand.
