Let me know if you can find a way to make one...I'll have cash ready to buy...

I don't have access to a lathe to machine the housing.

Yeah, and relocate the filter upside down by the battery..!! Need a "catch" basin for the oil and it runs into an empty 1 liter bottle.

That sounds like a very innovative idea.!:thumbsup:

Maybe if the day arrives when quality canister filters are no longer available, I'll look into this cartridge adapter thing. Otherwise, meh.

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
Also, I tried this. It was fine until I took the truck off road and at some steep angles. It started leaking from the valve. Don't know what went wrong but I'm glad I found it before any damage was done. So I would not recommend the mod, just from my experience.

So how's this been holding up? Thinking of doing it. Have used Fumoto's before with zero issues.

What product are you asking about?
    1. Fumoto on drain pan?
    2. Baxter spin on filter adapter?
I’ve been using Fumoto’s for about 20 years and on several vehicles without any issues. This is the first mod I install on each of my vehicles. Here’s a link to some Fumoto facts I’ve documented.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fumoto-fact-you-might-not-know.740535/

I’ve had the Baxter spin on adapter WITH the relocation kit and love, love, love it. If you don’t think you will keep your vehicle for many years the upfront expense probably doesn’t buy its way in. Makes oil changes EASY with the relocation kit because the filter moves to the top of the engine bay.

Is the valve you dispose of in this process not the bypass valve for in the event of a plugged filter/ cold start when oil pressure is high..

That’s what I just thought. It’s a known fact that if you drop the housing and the sleeve and spring fall out to just get a new housing. Yes that is the bypass valve that allows oil to flow if pressure drops or filter clogs. No thanks on that for me.

I don’t believe many do this. It’s not a big deal to drain that reservoir. Use the plastic adapter that comes with the filter or purchase something like a Motivx.

Interesting Idea although I will say that i'm not sure (for me) that it is worth the effort. I have a fumoto on the pan and have for years on all of my vehicles. I love them! For the filter "pre-drain" i bought something similar to what is posted above and it works great. Drains the majority of the oil from the filter housing and is really easy to use.

Yep. The Fumoto extends a bit into whatever you are installing it into which means you won’t be able to drain all of the oil.

be sure to grab the thread-on funnel as well!

you'll wonder what kind of neanderthal you were before when trying to hold the funnel over the hose while also holding the oil and then later trying to balance the mostly-empty jug on top of a balanced funnel...

This is the first I've heard of this...installing Fumoto on the oil filter housing.

I've got the Fumoto on the oil pan as well...I will be staying with that set-up.

I've got the drain valve/tube that screws into the bottom of the housing.

I'm getting use to this oil filter housing assembly.

I'll find out on the next oil change if "hand-tightening" causes any removal issues.

The Motivx tools are great. The Funnel, drain tool and filter tool really are game changers.
