I can, but I won't do Energy suspension bushings. Whiteline seems to be pretty good.

I was able to get this done today. I used my wheel bearing tool and some turned cups I made just for this job. Worked REALLY well, so well that when I pressed in the first one backwards and in the wrong orientation before I realized there were instructions in the bottom of the bag I was able to get it out using the old sleeve.
The whitelines tend to want to go in crooked so I would back it off, tap it straight with a hammer then continue driving.
I also believe that parts stores rent wheel bearing presses now and between that and a master ball joint set you should be able to get the job done yourself without a hydraulic press.

    Fisherman he is...good work.
    I used a $100 bushing tool...ebay.
It had different sized sleeves. The perfect ones for the job.
Anyone local that need the tool... willing to rent for a week end/6pack. Or i could help with install if need be. I have a press too...for ball joints.

That must have been the vodka talking...its bad enough getting tools back from peeps that are friends little own them i dont know... i dont loan tools.

    Hi guys... need some help.

I have a set of arms I am rebuilding, I got the old bushings out.

I went to 2 different shops to get them installed, 1st shop didn't know how to handle it, 2nd shop quoted me a 160$ yikes!

I have a press at work, but finding the proper sleeves will be a task.

What spacers and sleeves did you use to get these pressed in correctly?

The smaller diameter bushing came out with ease im going to cut that to reuse to hold to drive in one side.

The bigger diameter side the sleeve had to get cut out so that wont work to reuse:(

So my understanding is i need 1 sleeve on the bottom to hold the arm hole and another sleeve to drive in the bushing correct ?

Stick the whole control arm in the press and don't worry about sleeves, just flat even surfaces.

Hey everyone, I need to replace the LCA on my 05 TRD Sport, I don't have the skills/tools to do the full swap since it's all rusted on. I'll be buying new LCA's from Toyota, wondering if I should press in new bushings straight away? Are the OEM ones from Toyota fine with some kind of maintenance routine?

@daftpunked Hey man, all I can offer is my own experience. I went with an aftermarket set of LCA (not OEM Toyota) and they have been great for the past 20k. If I were you I would run the new LCA's with the stock bushings and only replace the bushings if needed. No sense in creating more work for yourself if its not needed!

I just rebuilt my LCA's with the Whiteline bushings.. I was excited to lay everything out to put the truck back together tomorrow until I grabbed the washers out of the bushing bag and found the instructions.

I did not line up the little voids horizontally. They're at various angles or even vertical. They were a pain to get in, and I'm not too sure I could get them out without wrecking them.

    How important is that orientation?

I'm sure many people are running them "not installed properly" whether they didn't pay attention or they sent them to a shop for install. I can only imagine the bushing might deteriorate faster, if there is anything negative to come of it. Not catastrophic, just means you get to do again sooner than later and will probably "do it right" next time.

    A learning experience.

Thanks for the response. I emailed Whiteline also and they said I might have some vibration issues with them installed as is. I think I'm going to fix it. Even if there's no noticeable difference, it'll bug me knowing that they aren't quite right

Well, I fixed the bushings then went away for a few days. Threw it all back together today. My whiteline bushings look a little squished to me. Torqued to 100ft-lbs with a good torque wrench and the sleeves are in the middle of the bushings. Is this how they're supposed to look?

Removing bushings and balls joints is the easy part, pressing them back in is what’s a bitch

Definitely need the right tools and ingenuity. Removing the bushings was the easy part, pressing them back in was what sucked.

    5C45572A-FF68-4F8D-997F-8BE93D6B0587.jpg

needed to come back and edit this for anyone who might get themselves in my shitty situation.

So remember, the fat side of the bushing points outward! My dumb self forgot to remember that while pressing the new bushings in.

I decided to use the old bushing casing and some washers to make a bushing press. Not the prettiest but they got the job done.

Am I right in thinking this is what you mean?

    Two other questions:
Are you pressing in from the outside(s) - so skinny side is being pressed through?

Also, what ball joint you got going on?
