Where is the Thread for the DIY door handles? I can't find it.

 

I dont know if there is one to be honest. I just read through this one and recall people saying how they did it. Look through and see what you can kind and ask the guys that did it. Sorry I couldnt help out more man.

Glad I didn't do this on the 05 AC before trading in for the 08 RC but damn I need to get on this mod. Not sure if I wanna go with perforated material to match top of door and dash or just do neoprene to go with the wet okoles.

 

either way drilling out the melting points are the worse part of the whole project.

 

How can you make a truck that is lacking the comforts that every American made truck offers as a standard options?

Heated "heated, leather, electrically adjusted seats"
Anyone have an idea where i can find a shop or pro in the northern calif Bay area to install ""heated, leather, electrically adjusted seats". I know the tundra has it all, But that not what i want.. I intend to buy a 2013 fully loaded Tacoma 4x4, short bed 4 door truck in 2013 , 15 months before i retire so i am ready to buy the best 4x4 fully loaded Tacoma.. BUT i want these seats, so any suggestions would be great.
the dealers only know how to sell the truck after that they are not much help with this subject matter of heated leather seats. We had a great shop that went out of business in Redwood city called "California Concepts", and now i have no where to ask these question.

 

I picked up 3M 77 series at the store not knowing some of you used the 90 series..

Anyone use the 77 series and know if it will do the job?

 

If I can remember correct, some members used the 77 and it didnt hold. I would get 90 and contact cement to be safe man. I used both 90 and contact cement on mine and havent had a single problem with it yet.

Figured better to over do it then use something that "might" work...

 

I used to use 90 back in college mounting my work to matt board ... was a BITCH to take off when you messed up the alignment... but DAMN that held up for the AGES!!!

 

so I finally got my fabric and some contact cement. trying to figure out how to wrap the fabric on the center console cover ... it's proving to be very complicated :/ Anyone know how to make the wrapping seamless? I can only figure out how to wrap it on opposing sides, when I get to the side where it needs to bend or what not .... it looks like complete SHIET! plz help!!!

Googled how to wrap a center console cover and found this pic, not quite sure how to get the fabric to do this (where it crinkles, when I try ... the whole thing seems to want to crinkle on the corner I'm trying to NOT to get crinkled).

I picked up some low voc contact cement and was the worst think ever. That stuff never got tacky. I had to remove the leather after an hour of trying to smooth everything out and when i felt the cement, it had no stick to it. And this was after 30 minutes of letting it set as the directions stated.

Will redo with 3m 90...

 

well it was HELL the first two tries. but I guess third times a charm lol. FINALLY got done with the console cover. Decided to let it be till the morning (when my temper was at it's norm), and give it one more try before throwing in the towel to get it done by someone.
Still have A LOT of fabric felt (1 yd. is PLENTY to do your door panels as well as center console - given that you have an AC).

thanks, this is addicting lol. Was going to do up my front pillars but don't have enough DAP going to have to play the waiting game for bit till I can get more (thinking about getting a bucket instead - side arms and headliner are a definite).

Just completed my doors. A few wrinkles but overall I am very pleased with them. While the doors were off, I decided to plastidip my rear passenger handles, the housing for the power windows, and the running boards. I went with a chocolate brown vinyl and added some foam for cushion.

I had my gf work on sewing some vinyl and wrapping the front door handles. They were a pain!

Maybe we tackle the center console next...

Be careful when reinstalling the panels if you decided to just solder the plastic back over the meltpoints. I had a few spots come apart as soon as I reinstalled the panel so I just remelted the points but also added the #10 sheet panel screws with 2 washers to make sure it didnt happen again... Also, when reinstalling the small triangular panels that go above the doors in the front and the long rectangular ones in the back, remove the small white clips from the door and attach them to the small panel first! This will prevent any chance of the clips falling into your door! I lost one in the front and two in the back before I finally learned.
