Seems like a lot of guys on here use plasti-dip for interior and exterior mods. I've searched and searched on someone using plasti-dip for the armrest and console cover, but no luck. Would that be an option to use plasti-dip on these parts?

Sounds like a bad option. These are high 'traffic' areas, it may rub off faster than it's worth. Unless you just want to use it to 'mock' the color before you paint.

Did mine today.... All 4 at once. Not real happy with them. The first one didn't turn out so great, that's why I started with the back doors. lol I used some vinyl leather lookalike from Hobby Lobby. It was real cheap on sale. For padding I used flexible foam sheets. I think that worked out good. I'm gonna drive with it for a few weeks, and might see how much a shop would charge to recover them with leather.

Yeah, that pic was of the front door. The drivers rear...not so good. I'm one of those stupid perfectionists......I hate it sometimes. All I will look at whenever I look at these will be that one wrinkle here, that one gap there. That's why I will try and drive with it for a few before deciding to take it to a shop. Maybe I will just get used to it, and be able to deal with it.

U were smart to start in the back - by the time you got to the front you knew what you were doing and that's what you will see.

I know that some have had good success with the spray adhesives. I, however, have not. After a couple of days of 90+ degree weather with the windows up have caused pretty much all of mine to start coming free. Went from looking good, to looking like crap. Called a local shop and they said 50 bucks an hour to recover them, and I figure that is not to bad. It shouldn't take any more than an hour, so I will probably let someone else do it right.

I used 3M 90 spray adhesive and I am in california. It has held up well so far. Make sure you remove all of the exciting adhesive with gasoline and follow the instructions on the can and you should he fine. IMO

Yeah, I removed it all. Scrubbed really good and used goo gone and gasoline. That sucker was clean and adhesive free. Followed the instructions on the can to the letter. The only thing that I can think of that may have made a difference was the padding I used. It was a thin sheet of foam. Little less than an 1/8". It developed a slight bubble and I think that may have pushed the vinyl off. I don't know. What materials did everyone else use for padding, if any?

You may be right on that. The more layers there are the morepossibility of it coming apart. I used Wet Okole neoprene which naturally has alittle padding to it.

Is there an online page that sells real leather? Couldn't find anything local :( Is it the same for the center console arm rest?

so... those of you guys who have done the front door pull handles, did you paint/plasti-dip or wrap them with fabric/vinyl/leather? if painted or plasti-dipped..... do the coats start to peel with use, skin oils, or etc over time?
