My spare is 32" (265/75-16) but I wouldn't see why this method wouldn't work with a 33" tire under there.

I don't think I would ever attempt going over any terrain towing a trailer where the trailer harness would be in harms way. If you look at the pic below you can see the harness is tucked up higher than the bottom of the receiver hitch.

K guys im gonna start this project tomorrow.. I just sheared up some .090 aluminum.. Enough for 10 relocations, i figure ill go through about 4 peices before i get it good.. If no one else decides to make em and sell them i can probably make some up nd get em shipped out.. Thats if these guys dont decide to do it, im not about to step on anyones toes.. So in a few days if ilovetacos or YumaTRD doesnt wanna do it, then let me know who if anyone wants a set.. Ill fab a set up tomorrow and throw some pics up to see what you guys think..

What if you bolted your L brackets on the other side of the bracket mount point AND rotated them so they run UP closer to the hitch and then angle back. The angle would be above where the bracket bolts to the hitch instead of below. This would provide even more clearance. You might need your bolt holes closer to the angle. The long end of the bracket would need to be a bit longer to clear the back side of the hitch. Then bolt the plate that holds the harness on top of your angle bracket.

I might not have explained that very well but it would give over an inch of extra clearance. :) As pictured here you are losing clearance because the brackets from where they bolt on are pointing down, running below the mount point on the hitch and then the harness plate is bolted to the bottom side adding the width of the bracket itself to the loss of clearance.

Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut and sold my own version. ;)

I just took my bracket off the other day after bending it pretty bad.. I just put the plug up inside my bumper... zap strap.. boom, its out of the way, not getting full of dirt, and i could even still plug it in inside of there if I had a trailer to attach.

I did mine on friday. I used a 2" hole saw. I trimmed away all of the plastic around the main piece. I used a big hose clamp to keep it from pulling out and filled it in with silicone. I think it turned out great!

Thanks to OP for this thread! Clean and relatively easy way to get that plug out of the way.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
What about using a spring hinge or other method to allow it to rotate into/out of service? That way when its not in use, it stays tucked away, and then in use, the cable points backwards, avoiding any ground-clearance issues. This probably would need a way to lock it into place to prevent wear on the cables behind the plug.

Question, the two little bent metal pieces... Could you put them on the inside and flip them upside down ?

That way, when the stock metal bracket is screwed in it would be about an inch more protected by the bumper
