Did the CB and new ujoints last weekend, all driveline vibrations are gone (even my 35mph shutter!)

Which CB did you end up going with, just straight stock replacement?

I'm about [] <--- this close to taking my driveshaft down to the local specialists and having them modify it to include a double cardan joint after the CB. My vibrations seemed to be nearly gone, atleast to an acceptable level, then I sold my topper off the truck and apparently that missing extra weight raised my truck enough to open the flood gates.

While I know I could tweak the CB height and pitch the pinion angle some more to get it back to it's happy place, I'm just so sick of dicking with it. A custom driveshaft and a few tweaks and it'll hopefully be the last time I touch it due to vibes.

Thanks for the write up. I went and replaced the 3 ujoints and CB on a 2013 prerunner with 80k miles.(with Spicer parts (~$110? total)). Had trouble getting the rear shaft to line up with the diff until I remembered about being in neutral, spun it a bit and aligned. Was stupidly trying to reposition the shaft in the tranny over and over.

There was about half inch of play in the cb and I dont know if a replacement was warrented or not.

After the replacement, I felt a huge decrease in overall vibrations. As well as the ride feeling so much smoother, it felt like a night and day difference that I had to post about it.

Keys I used for a 2nd gen prerunner for anyone that'll be doing this :

    14mm wrench x 2 (for the 4x bolts)
24mm socket (for removal of nut > yolk)

    Jmanscotch,
    Awesome vid/write up thx!
I've actually done this once before on my 09 off road but I've run in to a cunundrome with my spicer 5002007 direct replacement support bearing... it's got two engraved arrows on one side of the anodized housing, pointing in the same direction. Is this an install directive? Do you have any advice?
    Thx

A quarter inch of play is normal. If there is a bunch of slop in it, then that is a problem

    Doesn’t look good.

I suggest the spicer xc cattier bearing for the Ford ranger

What year of the ranger? What is the difference between the Tacoma bearing and Ranger Bearing?

Yeah thats definitely not good. I recommend going with OEM for all rubber products/seals. OEM(Toyota) will outlast most anything aftermarket
