I’m making my own Satoshi-style grill, but want to use the round perforated grill to match the faux hood scoop grill.

Both the larger perforated and small perforated mesh says “40%” open area, has anyone used this and are there any cooling issues?

I'm using it, i think mine is 47% open. Painted it black to match the truck - I did the lower grill and the little triangles too. Looks great.
No problems at all, except having to clean bugs out of it is a little more work.

I'm pretty sure 47% frontal area open is much more than the factory grille

    just search Google for

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN SATOSHI

there are lots of writeups. i am just going to attach the mesh grill with two down flanges and gobs of silicone. i've done it before and it holds well.
