at first I bought a yakima wind fairing and tried to attach it to the OEM crossbar, that didn't happen because the yakima fairing is design to mount on yakima bars only, and I'm too lazy to modify the mounting brackets plus I didn't think it would look right when mounted since the mounting brackets has to be shorten, and it will change the angle and the way the fairing sit on the truck. So I found this yakima set went on sale at Dicks for $149 and I couldn't resist, but you probably can find it cheaper on your local craiglist. And I bought a 44" fairing to go with it at a local REI store for 79.99 with a 10% member discount, so I came out pretty cheap with other people that has the same set up. And installation was less than 25 minutes

    Magix,

The OEM solutions over the years have improved greatly over the early/mid 90s rail and crossbar systems. Most have 75# ratings or better these days. I think the Yak railmount systems offer greater strength in attachment to the vehicle. Better attachment, better loads are stablized. Nice looking fairing - fits the vehicle nicely!

I appreciate it, but plans are more for kayaks and maybe a basket for gear when expedition camping.
