Thanks @Jiveydude. Seeing your truck on TW over the last year or so only strengthened my regular cab lust.

CBI frame plates arrived a few days ago and today I scored an entire non-ADD front end super cheap.

Got bored, mounted the Cooper ST Maxx 235/85r16's I bought from @ikarus and went for a 75 mile test drive. I think this size looks perfect on a 1st gen. Had no rubbing on stock suspension even making sharp turns across ruts and they won't look too small when I get a suspension lift.

Damn! I admit I was suspicious when I read the description "step side pre-runner" but that is probably the coolest single cab I've seen. Very-well executed and it's obvious a lot of love went into it as well. Did you do the 4X4 conversion yourself? I love the rear electrical connector for jumper cables and a stick welder. That's so practical yet so rarely seen, even on high-dollar builds. I also greatly admire that every single modification on your truck has a function and isn't just for looks. I am awed.

Thank you sir... Yes, a lot of love in my rig. I did everything you saw except build the front bumper (Shrockworks).
My truck is currently 2wd. I purchased the A340F trans, had it rebuilt and added the Inchworm 4.7 Lefty at the same time. I made the shifter and fabbed it so it came up where the OEM shifter would have.

The Diamond axle and 4WU 3 link are set to go in next weekend.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah... I have watched his build too. Awesome for sure.

As I have the auto trans (my wife cannot drive a manual), 5.29's is as low as I can go with Toyota based axles and retain the small amount I have for power with the 2.7 motor running 285-75-16's. My future plans are to incorporate an LS motor when the 3RZ craps out.
If it weren't a daily driver, I would go richter scale on this thing.

What all are you doing to your rig?

    Thanks for the reply.

Right now I'm just building the foundation, I'm only interested in quality mods and I will not be putting any of them on a credit card. I have CBI frame-reinforcement plates in hand, just waiting for a date with the welding machine at my friend Jim's hot rod shop AKA his garage. I have a @BamaToy1997 stage II electrical upgrade on its way, so I'll be ready when the time comes for a winch and extra lighting. I just got an entire non-ADD front axle assembly, so I will be converting to manual hubs including eliminating the ADD axle tube and actuator. Unlike many who convert to manual hubs, though, I will still have functional ABS braking thanks to some excellent info on TTORA. After that, depends on what bargains I find on TacomaWorld and local classifieds.

    Nice...
I am doing the "ABS Delete mod' due to the Diamond axle going in front. Simple to do and better yet, cheap.
Doing a SAS can get pricey if you're not careful.

    Keep the up-dates coming.

    Thanks for the reply.

Check Scuba on TTORA. He did a killer job on his regular cab Tacoma. He definitely uses his truck too. View his build... you'll see.

I'm already thinking dangerous thoughts, like I'm going to build up "Whitey" but not wheel him too crazy because he's in such good shape, then get a beater single cab, SAS it and wheel the bejesus out of it. Then I'd probably need 2 more single cabs for parts and the next thing I know I'm divorced and living in a single cab Tacoma wondering if my obsession with single cab Tacomas is a bit unhealthy.

Had a fantastic time on Boulder Mountain a few weeks ago. That little red pointy cliff in the bottom left is called Larb Hollow and when you get closer it looks like this:
    larb hollow.jpg
Sandy washes are a fucking blast in a Tacoma that's barely bigger than an ATV.

Sorry, not taking applications for new friends unless you drive a 1st gen single cab.

Application approved. But I need to submit an application to you since you have two 1st gen single cabs and I only have one.

    Lol

Btw i love your little truck. My built up rig is white too with black everything that isnt white body panels. Im envious of your '01-'04 style grille/hood though...ive always wanted to do the front end conversion to your style and get rid of my'98-'00 design...
