Well, @Burro, I obsess over every modification and try to plan ahead so I don't have to redo anything in the future. I put on a Trail Gear front bumper a few years ago because they're cheap, light and have good winch access. When I get a winch, it will be much easier to install or repair compared to a plate bumper. I relocated the wiper fluid reservoir and some wiring into the engine bay, so the TG bumper install looks clean and functions well, with nothing hanging down to get snagged or smashed off-roading.

The wiper reservoir is now right behind the air cleaner, and the ABS modulator is behind that:
    thumbnail_IMG_09462.jpg

Another planned mod I want to do is removing the ABS modulator and changing all the brake lines to match a non-ABS Tacoma. My ABS is disabled anyway because I converted from ADD to manual hubs using non-ABS spindles. I want that space for a remote winch solenoid because I don't like how it looks when the winch solenoid sticks out:
    131_1207_01+toyota_trail_gear+1998_toyota_tacoma_with_tube_bumper.jpg

That would leave very little room in the engine bay for an ARB compressor. I wasn't too hip on ARB compressors anyway because I've seen people air up their tires with them and they're no faster than the cheap Masterflow compressor I already have. Then, the cost of an ARB locker and compressor is about the same as a Harrop, but with more shit to install since you're dealing with air lines AND electrical components.

I considered a Toyota e-locker, but wiring it into a non-TRD truck like mine is a lot more complicated than the Harrop. I also would have needed to grind out my 8.4" axle housing to fit the Toyota e-locker 3rd member, or buy an entire e-locker axle housing and diff. I shopped for exactly that on my 2nd favorite web site Car-part.com. The price of a used e-locker axle with shipping came very close to the Harrop. And it just didn't make sense to throw a high-mileage axle under my low-mile truck.

So every option I considered, out of front and rear TrueTracs, ARB locking rear or TRD locking rear, were all similar in price to a fully assembled 3rd member/Harrop e-locker from ECGS. And getting the differential fully assembled from ECGS meant that I also got a 5 year warranty and the easiest possible installation.

Can confirm. My ARB compressor is slow AF. Interested to see some long term use reports from the harrop.

    DJB1,
I went through this dilemma several years back. In this photo, you'll see I mounted the winch solenoid near the battery, eliminated all things 'ABS' throughout my truck and went with the ARB twin compressor system. It airs up tires quickly AND runs my 1/2" impact.

If you need the Toyota OEM brake line part numbers, I can provide them.

As for the windshield washer tank, I am making a 2 bracket/ mount system tomorrow for the relocation. It'll reside next to the air box using an OEM tank and plumbing. The 2nd set will go to 1999regcab.

Damn, @Ritchie, that is a tidy engine bay. Also, yes I would like the OEM non-ABS brake line part numbers. Thanks again!

    DJB1,
There are a total of 6 components you'll need.
4 brake lines and 2 ea - black plastic clips that support the RT side brake line as it travels along the fire wall.

    1. The black clips aka: Clamp, Brake Tube - 47372-35170. 2 of these required.
    2. Short PS brake line aka: Tube, FR Brake, No.5. 47315-04060. Only 1 of these required.
    3. Long PS brake line aka: Tube, FR Brake, No.3. 47313-04120. Only 1 of these required.

    4. Short DS brake line aka: Tube, FR Brake, No.4. 47314-04060. Only 1 of these required.
    5. Long DS brake line aka: Tube, FR Brake, No.2. 47312-04080. Only 1 of these required.

I suggest removing the LSPV while you're at this. Go with the Wilwood unit which you can see in the upper RT hand corner in my photo.
This gets rid off more unneeded plumbing, works much better and cleans up the rear axle.

    Good luck.

That sucks! Your fault or someone else?
    I’m guessing someone else

It was the other person’s fault. Fortunately they are insured.

If the repair estimate is enough to pay for a Relentless rear bumper with swing outs.

Now both of our low-mile regular cabs have been crashed into. It must be a normality nazi conspiracy to get everyone into trucks with four doors and touch screens instead of crank windows and lever-operated transfer cases.

You hear from the insurance adjuster? My Tube bender is ready for use if you want to go that route...

I dropped it off at a body shop Monday afternoon for the estimate but haven’t heard back yet. In the meantime I have a loaner, let’s see if it will do Fix It Pass.

That’s an uber-kind offer. I heard back from the estimator, I’m going to let them fix it for reals rather than collect a check and redneck repair it myself.

What are your hub to fender measurements up front now after running the 880 springs for a while?
